50th anniversary 3CD/Blu-ray edition of King Crimson’s seminal debut presented in 2 x gatefold sleeve containing the individual CDs plus booklet with sleeve-notes by Sid Smith (packed in a rigid slipcase).

CD1 - 2019 Steven Wilson stereo mix (approved by Robert Fripp) alonside 2019 instrumental mixes (with Moonchild edited to song length)
CD2 - An expanded edition of the alternate album from the Blu-Ray
CD3 - The original master edition of the 1969 mix plus additional tracks

I am fortunate to have the original big box but this set looks to be THE definite one. Will see how the price shakes out.

As it is stated that there is a 2019 Steve Wilson remaster, wonder how much more he was able to pull out since the 40th anniversary he did , well 10 years ago(-ish).
Of course I will get this. Looking forward to seeing them next Tuesday!

King Crimson's seminal 1969 debut album In the Court of the Crimson King is being reissued on 25th October for its 50th anniversary.

For the occasion I took the opportunity to revisit the multitrack tapes to produce a new set of stereo and 5.1 remixes. But didn't I already do that 10 years ago? It's true, I originally worked on the album in 2009 as one of my first classic album remix projects, but I felt I wanted to have another attempt with the benefit of 10 years of experience.

The new version is not necessarily better, but it is more faithful to the original, and in addition this time I worked from higher resolution 96K files. This will also be the first time the album has been issued on blu-ray. There are 2 formats; a 3CD/Blu-Ray set, and a 2LP vinyl.

The first CD includes the new 2019 stereo, plus an instrumental version of this mix. CD2 includes various out-takes and alternate versions, many of which previously appeared on the 2009 edition, but which are now freshly mixed from the higher resolution files. Finally CD3 is the original 1969 mix plus some additional bonus material.

The Blu-ray includes the 1969, 2019, instrumental, and 5.1 mixes, along with much bonus material, all in high resolution. Meanwhile the 200gram 2LP vinyl edition includes the new mix on record one, and various alternate versions on record 2.

Note that all the material on this set will also feature on a forthcoming “Complete 1969 Sessions” box set, due some time in 2020.

I have 5 vinyl and 4 CD copies, including the box set you mention upthread. It's one of the greatest albums of all time, so why wouldn't you have multiple copies?
Like JohnG I will be seeing them later this month (in Montreal) and I hope they do a few tracks from this. When I last saw them in 1984 they mainly focussed on the material written by the then-current band (might've done 20th Century Schizoid Man) so it'll be a treat to see them doing more varied material from all through their existence.

One reason Jimbo enjoyed the show at the Beacon was because they did the three big songs from the album including I Talk To The Wind (my favorite). Love anything from that album and need to hear "Starless" too.
