[2019-04-26] Marvin Gaye "You're The Man" expanded remaster of previously unreleased 1972 album (Tamla)

Description
You're The Man is the first-ever planned 'lost' Tamla/Motown album from Marvin Gaye. Includes three tracks newly mixed by SaLaAM ReMi. The album also includes a rare long version of Marvin Gaye's cancelled Christmas single, as well as an unreleased vault mix of its instrumental B-side, and new essay by Marvin's biographer, David Ritz. You're The Man was the album originally proposed to follow-up the monumental What's Going On. The release coincides with the 60th anniversary of the Motown label and also Marvin Gaye's 80th Birthday (April 2).

I would say the three new remixes are an unnecessary addition, but such things are seemingly common with posthumous Gaye releases.

I think the description "Expanded remaster" is kind of funny considering the album was never released in the first place.

I understand that it was originally conceived to have fewer tracks, but if this is the first exposure one has-- well, you get where I'm going with this, right?

The album was intended for release in 1972, then shelved. This is an expanded remaster of what would have come out back then in a better world that favoured the great Marvin Gaye over whatever person was making decisions for Motown. (Probably the same person who treated The Four Seasons so badly, but that's another thread.)

If there were no album conceived or planned at the time, this CD would simply be "previously unreleased 1972 recordings".

Of course, you should get this regardless how it's described.
