The album was intended for release in 1972, then shelved. This is an expanded remaster of what would have come out back then in a better world that favoured the great Marvin Gaye over whatever person was making decisions for Motown. (Probably the same person who treated The Four Seasons so badly, but that's another thread.)
If there were no album conceived or planned at the time, this CD would simply be "previously unreleased 1972 recordings".
Of course, you should get this regardless how it's described.
