Awesome to see Dimmu Borgir at a shocking #43 this week. Very high for an extreme Death Metal band with orchestral overtones, also Porcupine Tree come in at #59 (their last album "Deadwing" was their US chart debut and for only 1 week and it failed to come anywhere near the Top 100), and Patti Smith is at #60.
This doesn't even take into account Neil Sedaka and Donnie Osmond in the Top 30!!??
A slow sales week, yes, as Avril Lavine or whatever she's called stays at #1 despite dropping 58%! Yikes-bad news for the industry with those numbers, but cool to see these debuts nonetheless.

Since they don't release the sales numbers, Patti Smith could be at #60 and sold 5,000 copies. It is very misleading. I read that they don't release the figures like the movie industry does because it would be too embarassing to the acts. People would be surprised how few some of the Dylan or Rolling Stones albums sold.

Don't you have to subscribe to the Soundscan service (which isn't cheap) to get the exact sales numbers? I know these figures do pop up in articles from time to time, but they're usually tough to track down...

"tough to track down"!!

i have tried and tried on many occasions to get the number of units sold and i think it would be easier to get the president's cell phone number.
