Flipping through the bins yesterday I ran into an record that I missed in the early 1980s (or real late 1970s), and would have bought it, but the condition was not good enough. I wanted to see if there was ever a CD version pressed, but have forgotten the name of the artist (and lp) Maybe Ian somebody? Maybe power pop?

The cover is monochromatic with a hand on a chalkboard. There are a lot of guest artists including Ric Ocasek and Ben Orr.

It would be really funny if somehow that isn't it.

I thought I had edited my post but it's not showing up. I hadn't realized that Ian Lloyd was the lead singer of Stories (best known for early-'70s hit "Brother Louie"). I have at least one of their albums. Will definitely seek out his solo album. It's on Spotify so I'll give it a listen soon.

It's a "new wave"-sounding album and has The Cars' Ric Ocasek all over it:

I'm glad to see that my memory wasn't too far off - lp title - Goose Bumps. 2 limited foreign CD releases. Slip Away is a catchy little tune, guess I will search for a clean vinyl copy.
