Yes, sports fans. That mind-blowing (and cute) bass player Tal Wilkenfeld, sidekick to Jeff Beck for a few years, is putting together a new album via PledgeMusic.

And she's not just playing bass, but also getting into singing and songwriting. Below is a link to her PledgeMusic site, with all kinds of extra goodie packages you can get in on. Plus there's a short video of Tal, and a free song download to whet your appetite.

Hey Everyone in internet land!

Tal Wilkenfeld here. Some of you may know me as a bassist, but lately, my focus has been singing and songwriting.

I’ve been in the studio for several years, on and off between sessions and touring with other artists, working on my album with some pretty amazing musicians (Benmont Tench, Blake Mills, Sonya Kitchell, Jeremy Stacey, Paul Stacey and Zac Rae.) The tracks are done and I can’t wait for you guys to hear it! Now I’m looking to mix and master it, and hopefully, if all goes according to plan, release it in the summer.

I would love for you guys to support this process and pre-order my album. Along with this new music, you can also grab exclusive opportunities such as a limited amount of skype bass lessons, signed instruments, handwritten lyric sheets… even a concert in your living room!

Thank you for your support, and for pledging for my album!

~ Tal

With a total style change; I'd want to hear this before deciding on my interest level.

She's quite possibly the best bass player of her generation, & she's beyond gorgeous; but that doesn't necessarily translate into a quality singer-songwriter!

I saw her open for The Who last night. She's quite good as a leader. She's got a nice singing voice and I'll definitely be giving her album consideration when it's released.

Perhaps of interest to Geff - Tal and her band are playing at the Triple Door in Seattle on October 11.

Good on her - anyone with this much talent deserves a listen, IMO. I'll get this for sure.

After three years of promises, the album is finally coming out and will be a general release on BMG. I've moved the thread to New Releases and added pre-order details to the first post.

Here's a couple of audio-only samples:
