Excellent track selection, which, at first glance, looks to be complete, including rare mixes that were not included on the 2010 box set available via the band's official website. Unfortunately, it still falls short. I am so glad to see that we get exclusive U.S. mixes on CD for the very first time. However, where is the U.S. 12" mix of "The Politics of Dancing"? It is, in my opinion, the best mix of the song and has been completely overlooked on this collection. Ugh. This is still totally worth getting, so I'll still be grabbing a copy. Hopefully, the mastering is good (Nick Robbins, perhaps)? Meanwhile, I'll have to stick to my squashed dynamics U.S. 12" mix of "The Politics of Dancing" on 2000's "Pulsating Grooves 3" compilation released by EMI-Capitol. Disappointing.

I actually played the original Re-Flex album last night! I sold a vinyl copy of this for $45 a while back, was very rare for a while. I'm going through a Synth Pop rediscovery of albums such as Real Life - Heartland, Pseudo Echo - Autumnal Park, Ultravox - Lament and Re-Flex My Chinese GF has softened me up a lot.

Paul Fishman, member of the band, explained on SuperDeluxeEdition.com why it was pulled:
"I think I might be able to explain. The intended release was not taken from the master tapes. Most of it came from dodgy vinyl, which is a shame because the masters exist. Changes to the artwork and credits were neither approved. Almost a bootleg! I think people deserve better and so I requested that they start again and do it properly. Another album is being put together and will be available soon. I would suggest you wait as unlike the scrapped album it won’t include tracks that were never recorded e.g. Spanish or other non existant versions. Sorry for the delay."

So, this is great news!
That's fantastic! I wish other artists would have the same gumption to make sure their reissues are done right, especially if they have the control to do so.
Yes, Cherry Red is very hit or miss. Doesn't exactly inspire confidence.
