I know very little of Peter Greens music , I am really only familiar with the stuff Gary Moore covered and and a few other songs that I’ve heard his original versions of. I always said to myself that I’ll have to look into getting some of his cds. I was checking Amazon and there’s quite a few best of comps available. Where would be the best place to start with Peter Green ?

You can't go wrong with any of his Fleetwood Mac studio albums, with the self-titled debut and Then Play On being two personal favorites.

I have a couple of John Mayall 2-disc compilations, one of which features a number of tracks when PG was the guitarist...and I find those recordings more inspiring than anything Mayall did with Clapton.

As for Green's solo career, I have a couple of individual albums but this compilation is an ideal entry point:

Happy listening.

Really depends on your musical tastes. Green has gone through several different (though all somewhat Blues based) periods.

If I had to pick 1 favorite, it would be Fleetwood Mac's Then Play on. There is an expanded version, which is the one I would reccomend:

My other recommendation was going to be the box set; but it's oop & selling for a fortune.

Earliest Mac with Green often borrows from Chicago Blues;
Here is a decent single cd:

There is also a FM Chicago box. It's also a bit pricy at Amazon. Has great sound quality, but too much studio chatter for my liking:

his first solo period tends to be blues rock
I own this one:

The later stuff (Splinter Group, etc, is often acoustic & is pretty hard core blues.
