Is this a career-spanning 3 CD box set?

With rare tracks?

Or live stuff?

Or re-recordings?

Anyone know what this will be?

I bet it's the band as it is now.

Of all th bands not in the R&R HOF this one may bother me the most. Steppenwolf was HUGE during their glory days.

While it has little in common with today's "metal" Born To Be Wild is considered by some to indeed be the first metal song.

If it's on the Rainman label, you can bet it's re-recordings.

I agree totally Geff. During the 60'sand early 70's they were on the radio constantly and yeah, they were true innovators for the hard driving proto-metal we have today.

Yeah they belong in there...but not everyone who should be in there belongs.

In the 80's, the new Wolf (Kay + new band) did a tremendous album with the hits called Live In London (Originally a KBFH concert). For once, rock re-recordings worth hearing!

Just wanted to second the Live in London cd recommendation - in my opinion this has some more recent songs that are very good & the band deliver a great performance.

I prefer the live versions of these (then) newer songs to the studio versions also. It's a great album; I originally had part of it on a KBFH promo vinyl LP!

They're selling a poster and t shirt to go along with this release, but I'll be damned if I can find a track listing or any other details.

I've been trying to find out too.

It seems like it's hopping on the bandwagon of career-spanning 2 or 3 CD comps the last few years (The Who, Deep Purple, The Doors, Rolling Stones) and if that's the case I'd be in.

But, if it's re-recordings I'm out even though Danny Johnson (yet another guy in my book) has been a fantastic guitarist for the band for a few decades now.

Info should come out for this soon, right?

Since it's attributed to John Kay & Steppenwolf on the cover, I'd bet it's all new recordings.

Or, it could include Steppenwolf and John Kay solo tunes.

But I'm guessing re-recordings and recent live recordings.

But 3 CDs of that?

If it's live (& not bootleg quality) I might grab it.

The Steppenwolf site mentions rare and unreleased tracks, but no details.
