Aerosmith's Joe Perry Really Excited About New Solo Song (A Top Story)

.
On Wednesday Aerosmith's Joe Perry Really Excited About New Solo Song was a top story. Here is the recap: (Classic Rock) Joe Perry says he is excited by a number of songs he has penned for his next solo album. The Aerosmith guitarist hopes to put out his sixth solo record - the follow up to 2009's Have Guitar, Will Travel - sometime next year.

And he says he has "about six songs" he's really excited about already written. He plans to complete the record once he's done promoting his upcoming memoir Rocks: My Life In And Out Of Aerosmith.

Perry tells ArtistDirect about the project, "I've got about six songs I'm really excited about. I want to get into them as soon as possible. That's the main focus now." - more on this story

AEROSMITH's JOE PERRY Is Working On 'Mainly' Instrumental New Solo Album

October 19, 2015

AEROSMITH guitarist Joe Perry has revealed via Twitter that he is working on his fifth solo effort, which will be a "mainly" instrumental affair. According to Perry, the follow-up to his 2009 album "Have Guitar, Will Travel" will "have diversity," and will include one or two songs Joe "or another singer" on vocals. No release date has yet been announced for the new album.

In other news, the guitarist's holiday EP, "Joe Perry's Merry Christmas", is being reissued later this year.

Perry's memoir, "Rocks: My Life In And Out Of Aerosmith", was released in October 2014 via Simon & Schuster.

AEROSMITH's latest effort, 2012's "Music From Another Dimension!", debuted at No. 5 on The Billboard 200 album chart, selling 63,000 copies in its first week of release. The group's previous collection of new songs, 2001's "Just Push Play", entered the chart at No. 2 with sales of 240,000 copies.

I like Joe's solo work. It gives a person a funny feeling on how it would be if it were on an Aerosmith disc.

Just heard on the radio that Joe Perry wrapped up a new solo album and apparently, two of the guest vocalists will be Terry Reid and David Johanson.

I imagine we'll be hearing more on this as the release date comes closer.

He should get that "country" singer Steven Tyler to sing on a song.

The album has finally been announced, entitled Sweetzerland Manifesto and scheduled for January 19, 2018. We have details in the first post. The label's description mentions 11 tracks, but the tracklist only shows 10, so it remains to be seen how that will shake out. The pre-order link is not active yet, but will be very soon.

Here's a preview of a track which features Terry Reid:

He should write a good Aerosmith-style song and bring in Steven Tallarico to sing it.

You should read Joe's book. After reading that, now I see why Aerosmith is such a ballady band these days.... Steven Tyler.
Joe likes to rock. He said Tyler was like that even when they were still a club band.

Excellent! Pre-ordered, heck I would get this just because Zander does a track with Joe. :ohyes:

Joe likes to rock. He said Tyler was like that even when they were still a club band.

It doesn't help that Tyler wants to do music that will make him "hip" and "popular," hence his "country" album from last year.

In reading recent articles, it's painfully obvious there's no unity in the band: Brad Whitford and Joe Perry just want to rock and Steven...is Steven.

I think they should agree to do a "farewell" tour and just call it a day.

After their last two albums, it's clear they're done as creative force in music.

I would class this album as an "ehh."

Not bad, but not really that good either. The songs are primarily sung by Terry Reid and David Johanson, with Perry singing the cover of "Eve Of Destruction" the single with Robin Zander and the opening track, which has no lyrics, but a chanting-style vocal sung by Colin Douglas, who I'll presume is related to Jack Douglas, who co-produced a song on this album.

While I'm glad Perry is making music that's bluesy and rocking, he needs to stop doing these self-produced home studio jobs (Perry is the co-producer and i'm assuming the studio is his home studio based on his previous couple of records).

If he does another album, I'd like to see a strong outside producer be in charge and have it done as a proper group thing: Perry can either reform the Joe Perry Project or put a new version of it together with one strong lead vocalist / frontman with Perry maybe singing one or two lead vocals himself.

I wouldn't tell someone not to buy it, but I can't give it a glowing recommendation either based on a couple of listens.
