First, last winter/spring we set a record for most days in a row with rain.

This summer we're on pace ( effective as of August 8th) to set the opposite: most consecutive days without rain.

We're also dealing with a heatwave & terrible air pollution caused by a fire at least 170 miles away in Canada.

On the bright side, Thursday ONLY hit 99 due to the pollution (the original prediction was 105, which is unheard of here).

Per the newspaper, the current air pollution is 5 times worse then Beijing, China & the worst ever in Western Wa in the summertime. While cloudless the sky has been grey in Tacoma since Thursday.

Thank God I have air conditioning; though of course it's sucking the polluted air into the house, which smells mildly like smoke from a fire. Per the paper the powers that be are suggesting that people do not leave their homes or open windows. In a mobile with this heat, turning off the AC is not an option.

Last I heard, we're supposed to get some relief from the pollution of Monday or Tuesday; the temp is also supposed to drop to 83.

But it's OK Geff. There's no Climate change, it is all a hoax.

Here in Tampa we got hit with a Tropical Storm w/o any warning last weekend. Came out of no-where. Weird sh%t going on.

Be good and careful.

Is it the season for Hoaxes, or would playing a Hoax right now be unseasonable? Do not spring to any premature conclusions. Summer Hoaxes, summer not. Don't fall for it, lest thy folly bring the winter of thy discontent.

Talk of "climate change" will inevitably lead to a political discussion here. We don't want that, do we?

Every word I posted is a fact. Everyone is welcome to interpret those facts how they wish. For me, those facts kinda sorta suck right now.

It could be worse, you know. Not only was our July the second hottest month on record, but today when I stepped outside, it smelled like I was standing in the middle of a campfire thanks to wildfires from the next state over. Plus, the foothills I can see so plainly out my window are completely shrouded in smoke and perhaps may not even be there anymore.

Well, if it's not going to be a political conversation, let me tell you about the many, many inches of climate change that I shoveled off the driveway and the walk last winter, and why I wore a sweat shirt when I went running this morning.

Beautiful summer in the upper midwest. Warm but not too hot, believe on the whole the temperatures have been below average. That was expected for June/July but August was expected to be warmer than usual; however, today it will only get into the mid 75's and during the next week the forecast high is only 80 (not unusual to see temps in the 90s during the first two weeks of August). Proper amount of rainfall and most of it has happened during the week (which is the shocker). Couldn't have asked for better.

Cooler today (I never thought I'd think of 83 as cool in Western Wa!); but the pollution hasn't abated so far. Gray sky with no clouds.

The smoke has cleared immensely Geff. It's still there, but two days ago you could barely see Vashon Island from Redondo, or planes landing at Seatac.

I haven't even tried to see mountains from here; just am aware of the grey sky. I also may be getting it worse where I live; I read that Puyallup was tied with a couple other areas for worst pollution in West Wa, & I'm quite close to Puyallup. Despite having a Tacoma address; I officially live in "Midland".

Glad to hear it's getting better. I feel fortunate that my breathing's been ok.

Good thing you're not over here in Idaho. It's nasty bad. Oregon is on fire.

I have a couple of friends in Nampa, and they had this advisory this weekend; "Red Air Quality conditions, which means the air is unhealthy for everyone."

I'm in Boise. And this may be the third day in a row in which the foothills just disappear in the crap. I can barely make them out now. I don't know how my neighbors could stand to be out around the pool yesterday and keep breathing that stuff.
