Is this really a "new *studio* album"?
It contains one unreleased track with the late Jim Capaldi, and what is described as one new studio tune “Deaf, Dumb and Blind”. That's two tracks, plus one unreleased live track of another old tune ("Take It To The Limit").
The majority of this is from an XM satellite performance, and those seven tracks consist of old Dave Mason tunes.
Mason has been around a very long time, and considering his last studio album
Two Hearts came out 20 some years ago... has had plenty of time to develop and put out a new CD, rather than recycle his past yet another time.
Maybe this is all he is capable of anymore... and maybe this is a passable and pleasant enough CD but... I would really like to see him write
new material.
Has anyone noticed how many Mason comps are out there?
Another recently just came out as
The Definitive Collection.
