Description
QUIET RIOT is a rock & roll phenomenon. Famously known as the first heavy metal band to top the pop charts, the Los Angeles quartet became a global sensation thanks to their monsterous smash hit album, 1983’s “Metal Health”. That album topped the Billboard album charts for several months and the follow up album, “Condition Critical” went double platinum. The band has continued to record and tour throughout the decades following.

QUIET RIOT continues their historic journey in 2017 with their new album, “Road Rage”. Led by drummer Frankie Banali, who is joined by veteran bassist Chuck Wright (who has been in and out of the band since 1982), guitarist Alex Grossi (who has been in the band since 2004, and new vocalist James Durbin, the band continues to be an unstoppable force in the rock ‘n roll world. “Road Rage” was originally scheduled for release in the spring of 2017, but with the injection of new found energy for the band with the addition of American Idol alumni James Durbin in the vocalist slot, the band decided to scrap the original sessions and record a new version of the album with the new and improved line-up. The results are everything Quiet Riot fans could have hoped for!

Tracklist
1. Can't Get Enough
2. Getaway
3. Roll This Joint
4. Freak Flag
5. Wasted
6. Still Wild

I'm curious to hear this.

Nice to see the band on a good label and Alex Grossi is a fine guitar player.

I know nothing about the singer though.

Yep.

And now it's the guy who sang with Priest on American Idol.

According to Germany's Rocks magazine, QUIET RIOT has split with singer Seann Nicols (a.k.a. Sheldon Tarsha; formerly of ADLER'S APPETITE) after only five shows and has replaced him with "American Idol" finalist James Durbin.

QUIET RIOT drummer Frankie Banali told Rocks that Seann did "a great job" on the band's upcoming album, "Road Rage", but that "artistic and personal" differences ultimately forced them to go separate ways. "We had to make the best decision for QUIET RIOT," Banali is quoted as saying. "If there are problems so early in the cooperation, it's better to pull the emergency brake."

Durbin, who recently collaborated with QUIET RIOT guitarist Alex Grossi on the "Maps To The Hollywood Scars" EP, was Banali's first choice to front the band after last year's departure of Jizzy Pearl. "When I wrote the material for 'Road Rage' with my songwriting partner Neil Citron, James was my [number one pick to sing on the record]," Banali reportedly said. "Because he had other commitments, I had to look for a replacement, and Seann Nichols was third on my candidate list. Of course, I would have preferred James to have [laid down the vocals] on 'Road Rage', but you can only work with people who are available [at the time]."

While QUIET RIOT has yet to officially announce Durbin's addition to the band, the singer apparently teased the collaboration on his Facebook page on Wednesday (March 1), writing: "Big game-changing news coming!!! Can't wait to rock you."

Last October, Banali expressed his confidence that Seann was more than up to the task of singing for QUIET RIOT for the long haul. "I don't do anything by chance," the drummer told the "Trunk Nation" radio show. "If the QUIET RIOT movie [the 'Quiet Riot: Well Now You're Here There's No Way Back' documentary] should tell you anything about me, it's that I don't leave anything to chance."

"Road Rage" will be released on April 21 via Frontiers Music Srl.

Banali revived QUIET RIOT in 2010, three years after original singer Kevin DuBrow's death, along with Grossi and bassist Chuck Wright. The group went through two vocalists — Mark Huff and Scott Vokoun — before settling on Pearl in 2013.

I wonder what happened with the singer? Probably figured he had some leverage after singing on the new record and probably got all crazy and asked Banali for a $50 a week raise or something like that. Banali must be really broke trying to do what he's doing with this sunk ship.

That sample song is as vanilla a song as I have heard in a long time. Not real impressed.

Banali stated when Dubrow died that Quiet Riot could not exist without him.

Since then he reformed the band and has had SIX vocalists???

He even fired one while he was getting brain surgery.

Jizzy Pearl (who is a good singer) lasted 3 years somehow, but this is beyond weird now.

That new song sounds nothing like QR and is very forgettable.

I highly recommend the Quiet Riot documentary which shows Banali is a desperate soul (and his wife even directed it).

Quiet Riot have announced that they will now be releasing their new album "Road Rage", with newly recorded lead vocals from James Durbin, on August 4th.

The veteran band had originally recorded the effort with departed frontman Seann Nicols (Adler's Appetite) and planed an April release date but then decided to rerecord the album with former American Idol star James Durbin, who was recruited to replace Nicols.

Frankie Banali had the following comments, "The recordings for the new 'Road Rage' record have been an incredible musical journey in the storied history of Quiet Riot. I asked vocalist James Durbin to fill the very large shoes of the late great Kevin DuBrow because I knew he could. While no one can ever replace Kevin DuBrow, he has the same spirit and drive that Kevin had.

"James is an amazing live performer with insane vocal range, but he is also a very gifted songwriter and brought to the 'Road Rage' record totally unique original lyrics and melodies. Not only do they fit perfectly to the music we wrote, but took the songs to a completely new level.

"All the work that we have put into this record has been well worth the wait! I am extremely proud of guitarist Alex Grossi, bassist Chuck Wright and especially James Durbin for the work we have created on this record. Quiet Riot continues to tour relentlessly and will be on the road throughout the year. Expect to hear your Quiet Riot favorites as well as new songs from 'Road Rage' at our shows!"

Durbin added, "The crown-jewel, on top of joining one of your favorite bands, has to be writing, recording & releasing a new album. No matter what, you are now a part of that band's history & I'm honored to have had the opportunity to do that with Quiet Riot. I spent just over 3 weeks marathon song-writing brand new lyrics and melodies for every song & recording vocals. I'm extremely proud of the "Road Rage" record, not only that I had the band's support & trust to deliver, or how great of a personal accomplishment & blessing it's been, but that we can keep the Quiet Riot freak flag flying & have the chance to inspire a new generation of fans!"

The Quiet Riot documentary is one of my guilty pleasures. I watch it every time it is on. Frankie is unintentionally funny for me. That and the fans.

Did any promos of the complete album with Nicols' vocals ever surface?

Did the samples back in the spring feature Nicols?

They must have and I'm sure that album was close to being mixed.

Well, there was at least a video (posted above in this thread, but now removed from YouTube), so I'm assuming the album was ready to go as well.

LOL, folks, you can't make this stuff up...

Fired from a band whose upcoming album is titled Road Rage? First thing you do is release your own version of the title track.

Then you decide to up your game by becoming the new frontman of Ratt.

No, not that Ratt. Bobby Blotzer's Ratt.

It really IS a long way to the top if you wanna rock 'n' roll!

Cavazo is in Ratt now. Sarzo is playing in whatever band pays him the most.

They were both smart enough to leave the sinking ship.

Yeah, Cavazo has been in the real Ratt since 2008.

I mentioned that on another thread somewhere.

Sarzo has bounced around from Dio to Yngwie to BOC.

I think now he's in something that sounds dreadful called Project Rock.

The re-recorded album is now available for pre-order. I've added the new description and tracklist to the opening post.

Here's the first sample with the new singer:

Why is there a "Quiet Riot" at this point in time?

And more appropriately, why does anybody care?

Because Frankie Banali needs a paycheck?

If I had the option of playing in Quiet Riot and earning a living or working the graveyard shift at Arby's, I'd do what Banali is doing.

However, the song I heard here is absolutely awful.

It's one of those things that where the singer (Dubrow) defined the band. In rare cases (Van Halen and AC/DC), a band can succeed with a new singer. In most cases, not.

Nazareth is a good example. I bought their recent Blu Ray with their first new singer after McCafferty had to retire. The only original guy left is Pete Agnew. The first new singer sounded nothing like Dan. I'm not sure about the newest singer they have. But nobody, and I mean NOBODY, can replace Dan McCafferty.
