I'm looking for some feedback on a good date that ICE members could meet at Amoeba Records LA next year. I'm aiming at Saturday April 29th 2017. It's the second weekend after Easter.

My plan at this point is to fly into LA on the 28th and spend 2 days there and then leave LA on the 30th and drive over to Las Vegas and spend 2/3 days there catching the Beatles LOVE show on Monday May 1st. Might then leave from Las Vegas back to NY either the Tuesday or the Wednesday.

Let me know if this works or makes sense.

That sounds like a fun and, for me, an expensive trip every time I go to an Amoeba. Wish I could go. Probably a good thing I live more than 800 miles away. HOWEVER, in honor of your anticipated trip, I wore my Amoeba T-shirt today! The one I got from the Hollywood store many years ago after I spent a crapload of money and my brother convinced them they should throw in a shirt since I came from far away and spent hundreds of dollars.

I'll need some recommendations of hotels near LAX and a good hotel in Vegas (I've stayed at the Flamingo which is in the heart of the Strip). Plus the best way to get tickets to Beatles LOVE.

That's a beautiful shirt, dustydan! I'll have to see what designs they have now the next time I'm in L.A., which won't be when John's there, sadly, but two or three months later.

Every time I go to Amoeba (usually Haight St. San Francisco), I dump hundreds of dollars and fly home with 60+ CDs. There's NOTHING like this place on the east coast.

Now the bar has been set pretty high for Jimbo. He will need to increase his credit limit. Leave $$$ for the craps tables in Vegas too!

I stayed at the Grafton on Sunset Bvd only a short drive to Amoeba Hollywood a few years ago.
It's only a block from the House Of Blues as well. Very clean & safe part of LA

One thing I'd like to do is check out the Hoover Dam as we are not gamblers.

I was in Vegas for my brother's 50th in October and the Hoover Dam is amazing!

yeah we missed it last time I was in Vegas so we will try and head out to Hoover and Lake Mead on the Tuesday.

I'm also psyched to do the drive from LA through the desert to Las Vegas. I've never been in a desert. If we time it right we should come upon the shiny lights of the Strip.

We did that drive during the day. My sister and I visited my son at UCLA then drove to Vegas. The desert is pretty deserty.

You'll probably take the 210 from Universal toward the I-15 to Vegas.

This joint is on Route 66, just off the 210. We hit it all the time.
