It was sounded out in text as "mix-yez-pittle-ick" in both Silver Age and later comics, but I've always pronounced it the way they did on the 1960s The New Adventures Of Superman cartoon: "mix-iz-pit-lick".
The Super Friends cartoon condensed it into "mix-ill-plick".
How do you pronounce Mxyzptlk? (And have you ever tried to say his name backwards?)
I used to say "mix-ill-plick" because that's how I learned it from Super Friends, but now I pronounce it phonetically, like the editor's notes in the Weisinger comics tell us it's pronounced. Actually, I don't think I've ever said it out loud, but that's how I say it in my head.
Mitzle-plick. Got it from the Superfriends cartoon and it's hard to shake.
Me too.
Although in my case the real answer to Linda's original question would be "As seldom as possible." Let the superheroes who are supposed to be defending us against him worry about it. That's what they're there for.

I would sound it out as "Mixy-zip-tilk" if I bothered to stop and do so...but when I first read it as a kid in the comic book, I just zipped past it and read it as "Mixie pickle" in my head...because I liked the sound of that.

Yeah, always skipped it. Knew it when I saw it, what it was, who, but didn't need to know how to say it. I mean, how often would I say it in RL?
Well, it's one of those things like CPR. You may go your whole life without ever needing it, but if you ever do you'll be really glad you did know.

I just don't feel that's a fair comparison. At least not in this dimension. Maybe it that weird one where Mr . . umm Mr. hmmm, well, you probably knew who I mean from context. Maybe there. But not here. A matter of life or death compared to that? Somebody gonna threaten me or my loved ones with death unless I tell him the name of that little imp? Gwooonnnn.

This was the 2nd time DC tried. I remember being ticked-off that it was changed from the 1960's less complex Mix-Yez-Pit-Lik. I guess life was pretty good if I could afford to spend valuable anger on this.
