Description
To celebrate the 40th anniversary of Nicolas Roeg’s enigmatic, David Bowie film, comes the release of the original movie soundtrack. Previously unavailable in any form until now, the soundtrack contains seminal pieces by Stomu Yamash’ta and John Phillips, who composed specifically for the film. The film’s score has always been highly celebrated and long sought after by fans but until now unavailable as a body of work: it can now finally be acknowledged in its own right. Little is known, and much has been asked, as to why the soundtrack was never originally released. Due to lost tapes recently being uncovered it is now possible to present the original recordings restored and remastered for this 2CD set.

The Wikipedia page for the film lists the music by John Phillips (of Mamas & Papas fame!!) and Japanese composer/percussionist Stomu Yamashta, as well as older/pre-existing music, both pop and classical. For the record, it should be noted there is not a single minute of Bowie's music on these discs and the restoration work on the film began last year well before Bowie's death.

John Phillips completists will need to seek out the UK box set reference above, as there are two tracks ("Bryce" and an alternate version of "Hello Mary Lou") which are exclusive to that set's bonus CD and not included on this 2CD release. The recent domestic Blu-ray/DVD release does not include the CD.
