Rhino Bucket

Description
Fully Remastered Audio / AC/DC inspired hard rock classic / Produced by Daniel Rey (Ramones, Circus Of Power, Raging Slab) / Features 'One Night Stand', 'Train Ride' and 'Ride The Rhino' / 12 page full-colour booklet, 3,500 word essay, new interviews, unpublished photos and enhanced artwork. They say that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. In the case of Rhino Bucket that could almost be true, with their uncompromising brand of riff-rock making them a close second cousin to Bon Scott era AC/DC. Not that they are mere impersonators of the great Australian rockers, far from it. For Rhino Bucket it's all about the cut and thrust of rock at its most ferocious and untamed. Formed in Los Angeles during the closing years of the 1980s, Rhino Bucket stuck out like a sore thumb by daring to ignore makeup and hairspray, adopting instead a rough-hewn look and approach, a style that set them apart from the baying hordes looking to out glam each other. This was a band content to steer clear of the usual clichés and focus instead on killer riffs and uncompromising energy. Produced by Daniel Rey (Ramones, Circus Of Power, Raging Slab) and signed to Warner Brothers Records, this, their debut album, was issued in 1990 to a great reaction from the rock fraternity. Sure, the AC/DC comparisons might, to an extent, have been justified but the band's relentless attack and pummelling riffs injected a fresh take on a tried and tested formula. With songs such as 'One Night Stand', 'Train Ride' and 'Ride The Rhino' they take no prisoners, leaving all of their competition in the dust. Track listing: One Night Stand; Beg For Your Love; Train Ride; Going Down Tonight; Even The Sun Goes Down; Blood On The Cross; Shot Down; I'd Rather Go Insane; Inside/Outside; Ride The Rhino

Get Used To It

Description
Fully Remastered Audio / AC/DC inspired hard rock classic / Produced by Terry Manning (George Thorogood, Molly Hatchet) / Features 'Beat To Death Like A Dog', 'The Devil Sent You', and 'Ride With Yourself' / 12 page full-colour booklet, 3,500 word essay, new interviews, unpublished photos and enhanced artwork. Make no mistake, Rhino Bucket attracted several antagonists keen to shoot 'em down and pull them over the coals for resembling prime era AC/DC. Of course, right thinking individuals having heard the band's music, instantly dismissed the complaints as irrelevant. Sure, Rhino Bucket certainly took a good look at the kings of boogie, but they were walking their own path to enlightenment, making for compelling listening. Formed in Los Angeles during the late '80s, the band made a conscious effort to avoid any hair band clichés and concentrated instead on building a grass roots reputation for serious riffing, packing out sweat soaked clubs. Their debut album contained a brace of high energy tracks, designed to grab attention and put authenticity back into a scene that was fast dying on spandex legs. Indeed, such was the positive reaction to the album that the band actually achieved two turntable hits, helping to set the scene for this, their second, album. For 'Get Used To It', the band took the template one stage further, helping to craft an even better record, masterfully recorded in Memphis, at Ardent Studios, with in house producer Terry Manning (George Thorogood, Molly Hatchet). The spectacular results giving rise to some stellar tracks, such as 'Beat To Death Like A Dog', 'The Devil Sent You', and 'Ride With Yourself'. This is almost certainly one of the best high-energy rock albums that you'll ever hear. Track listing: Beat To Death Like A Dog; No Friend Of Mine; Hey There; The Devil Sent You; This Ain't Heaven; She's A Screamer; Bar Time; Burn The World; Ride With Yourself; Scratch n' Sniff; Stomp

Yeah, very AC/DC-like and Simon Wright (ex-AC/DC. UFO, Dio) played drums for a while.

They are what they are, and "One Night Stand" got a few spins on MTV.

I never took them seriously and wasn't interested in the early 90s in this kind of stuff.

Not sure what I would think now, but I will pass on these.

Thanks Pete, nobody knows this genre better than you. I'll do the same (pass).

If anybody ever doubted that Maiden were Prog Rock, the last 3 albums should dispel that.

The new album is a tremendous listen.

Isn't, what a great album. With all that Bruce had to deal with in recent years I never expected this be so excellent!

Note that he said he wasn't interested in this kind of stuff in the early 90s, so by not listening to them he doesn't know what he missed!

AC/DC has been my favorite band since 1977 and I've read/heard hundreds (OK, dozens) of bands compared to them over the years. Rhino Bucket is the only band I felt had the same style but enough of their own sound to become a fan. I've seen them a few times over the years (no easy feat when you live on the east coast) and they bring it live! They included one of AC/DC's old drummers (Simon Wright) in their ranks at one time and currently have Brian Forsythe of Kix playing lead guitar for them.

I say buy them! I know I will.
