My favorite rock movie. Totally captures the stupid fun that is The Ramones and rock and roll (and I mean that in all the best way).
And anything with Mary Woronov is worth our time

One of my fave groups. Have all their lps (CD's) and just got to love them. No matter who produces them, from Spector to 10cc (Graham Gouldman) they will stay true to their craft.
They never, ever sold out.

One of my favorite movies--I discovered it about 20 years ago when it was resurrected from Reagan-era home video purgatory. At that time, I also owned another cherished title on VHS by the same director--"Get Crazy", another music-heavy film which also featured a couple of players from RNRHS, Paul Bartel and Mary Woronov, and was produced at roughly the same time that Bartel was directing and starring in long-OOP early-80's cult classic, "Eating Raoul".

RNRHS has remained in print on DVD for many years now, and "Eating Raoul" has been released by Criterion, but "Get Crazy" remains exclusive to Youtube.

There was a great interview with P.J. Soles (mostly discussing "Halloween", but it touched on RNRHS, "Stripes" and "Carrie") on the "I Was There Too" podcast a couple of months back. http://iwastheretoo.wolfpop.com/audio/3 ... -p-j-soles

I assumed from the thread title that a remake was imminent. No?

Weren't Cheap Trick origianally approched about this? What an interesting choice that would have been.
Get Crazy was a bit of a mess, but there is a great shot of Lou Reed recreating the cover of Bringing It All Back Home, and great footage in and around the Wiltern in Los Angeles (near where I work)

The movie includes a McCartney song titled "Did We Meet Somewhere Before?" It was not included on the soundtrack LP and remains officially unreleased.

The DVD has a great commentary track that I need to give a re-listen one of these days. I seem to recall that they discussed using music from the Brian Eno "Music For Films" album, which Eno apparently recorded and then submitted t filmmakers. I've always meant to learn more about that album at some point.

I almost forgot--Los Angeles disc jockey Don Steele appeared in RNRHS and also in "Eating Raoul". While he didn't appear in "Get Crazy", I see that "KISS Meets The Phantom Of The Park" is another one of his film credits.

He was also in Death Race 2000, along with Mary Woronov ;)

If they do another one it should be subtitled, The School Awakens.
