I haven't seen a lot of the movies on the list. I went with Bourne, though I could have just as easily chosen Winter Soldier.

All The President's Men got my vote. It's still such an interesting movie; apart from being based on actual events, Redford and Hoffman are both at their best in it, and really manage to sell the tension and danger of the situation they wind up in.

Li'l Jay I didn't realize you are a fan of the show but since you are there is a thread on IMWAN you might enjoy. It is a thread where I review the show episode by episode and if you like the show I think you will also like my thread.

For just a minute there, I forgot which of my many message boards this thread was on.

So, I change my answer to: I hate Smallville and never watch it.

I hope you will withdraw that, before I hold you in contempt.

It's the best James Bond movie without James Bond. Best film on the list. My choice too.

Hmm..
Yet the movie "Conspiracy Theory" was left off the ballot.

Conspiracy Fact!

And it was an overlooked, under-appreciated gem. I like the movie a lot.

I voted for 3 Days of the Condor, though JFK is awesomely ridiculous.

Kevin Costner's Foghorn Leghorn of a New Orleans accent alone is worth the price of admission.

Agreed.

And I think that phrase is often used to describe the majority of movies directed by Richard Donner.

Is that the Mel Gibson and Patrick Stewart movie?

Yes. I have it on DVD and then also bought the blu-ray. My kids enjoyed it, too.

It had a very unusual tone -- comic booky, a little funny, but it also delivered a lot of heart.

I remember liking it. Patrick Stewart is great. He was in a Star Trek spinoff back in the eighties that was really good.

Oooh, does it tell how Star Trek came to be? Hopefully with Patrick Stewart as Kirk's father.

No, it is not THAT good. But it explores the universe that Kirk and Spock lived in, minus Kirk and Spock, so I think you would really like it.

Even better! Get that gay subtext out of there so we can really enjoy the universe of things that is Star Trek.
