One thing is true.....the Golden Globes are a hell lot more fun than the Oscars (which have been a major disappointment for years now). Where else would a Stallone get a nomination for acting?

Though it's strange that there are some acting nods for movies that don't come out till 2016 like the Jane Fonda nomination for Youth.

Also amazing that Mad Max is getting lots of love.

I'm hoping that Lily Tomlin gets more attention during the awards season. She was perfect in Grandma.

Odd that they placed The Martian in the comedic category.

jim,

surprised me too, although i didn't see it, i never thought of 'the martian' as a comedy.

an aside:

it is the next day and i think i am more taken aback by the whole amy shurmer-trainwreck thing than i was yesterday. i saw it saturday night (my wife won the blu-ray in a drawing) and it just wasn't very good at all, and if you ever saw amy shurmer do stand-up all the movie was is an extension of her stand-up, which isn't all that funny either, just real filth. as for her acting....meh.

It happens pretty much every year. You can increase your chances of a win by entering your drama as a comedy/musical. Last year Birdman was entered in the category. Prior to that we had American Hustle, Her, and Wolf of Wall Street in there. Silver Linings Playbook, In Bruges, Eternal Sunshine, Lost in Translation... if you have any laughs at all in your film, you can get it in.
