Info on Pete's book here!:

Image

Description
There may be plenty of books on guitar players, but there are very few, if any, that delve into the guitar players who have been somewhat "under the radar" through the years. This book gives exposure and long-overdue attention to 50 players who have certainly received some accolades in their careers but yet still remain outside of the mainstream and the typical lists of "guitar greats." Interviews give insight into guitar players from various genres―including hard rockers Rik Emmett, Dave Meniketti, and Pat Travers, heavy metalists Andy LaRocque and Uli Jon Roth, funk masters Michael Hampton and Howard E. Scott, jazz-fusion players Frank Gambale and Carl Verheyen, prog-rockers Steve Hackett and Martin Barre, and singer-songwriters Bruce Cockburn and Richie Furay. The musicians get personal, speaking about their careers in their own words. Also included are short biographies on each player and photographs.

I've brought the details in-house to our thread, above. Amazon will most definitely end up less expensive, but Bob had also linked to the publisher's listing, which I'll put here:

Pete, congrats and I hope it's the first of many books! And you have at least one pre-order as of right now. :) (Will there be a Kindle edition?)

Ha! I didn't even see this on here until now.

Linda, I especially think you will enjoy my interviews with Tony Hicks of The Hollies and Berton Averre of The Knack.

They were both amazing gentlemen and a thrill to talk to.

What can you tell us about the cover photo, Pete? Is it you with one of your guitars or someone else? The all-white Strat seem unusual to me.

Peter (great name!):

The guy on the cover is Carl Verheyen who is a dazzling Fusion guitarist that also plays Blues and other forms.

One of the nicest guys you could meet and IMO one of the finest players out there.

His picking style is amazing and he plays so effortlessly. He's got a dynamite tone as well and has a great voice.

His guitar lines are melodic, snappy and almost Country-styled while adding Blues, Rock and Jazz touches. He's sooooo good. Kinda reminds me of Eric Johnson, but better and more diverse.

Carl has also been in Supertramp since 1985. The guitar is his.

Check out this mind-blowing song "The Road Divides" from his Carl Verheyen Band (also including bass genius Dave Marotta and drummer Wilfredo Reyes Jr. who is also Chicago's percussionist, and a dynamite player). Listen to the whole song please, it's excellent in a just word it would be a huge hit!

And thanks to all for the kind words about the book.

I will be posting more about it when it gets closer to release date in April.

Verheyen is a very cool dude - met him in 1998 at a week-long guitar workshop. He told a great story there about session work and how you have to be ready for anything.

I won't tell it here in case it's in the book...

We touched on that, but only a little.

He is simply outstanding and the song I posted above is evidence as to why.

Hopefully, the book gets people to listen to guys like him more, even if it's just a few blokes and lasses.

That can be arranged.

And it will bring the value up...5 cents!
