Just received news that Eric Carmen's album catalogued just received a 2015 re-master upgrade and the Blu-Spec2 discs will contain bonus tracks selected by Eric Carmen himself. :yay:

Prices are very reasonable, under $18 quoted on CDJapan website. I'm in for the first two!

CDJapan's tracklist is messed up for the first album. Sony sent me the actual bonus tracks:

Quote:
11. Sunrise (live at the Roxy, LA 1976)
12. Slow down (live at the Bottom Line, NYC)
13. Go All The Way (live at the Bottom Line, NYC)
14. My Girl (Original Demo w. Backing Vocals)
15. Ambition (Original Piano Demo)
16. That's rock 'n' roll (Original Piano Demo)
17. All by Myself (Radio Edit)

I was at the Bottom Line gig, so listen for me yelling.

The "My Girl" demo is supposedly night-and-day different from the sugary finished version, which Eric was never happy with.

They've balanced the number of bonuses across the discs, but did it by putting some things out of sequence. There's a 1975 demo of "Change Of Heart" that I think should really have been put on the first album, not the album he eventually did a proper version of the song on. But, c'est la vie.

Also, the first album is called Sunrise in Sony Japan's solicitation, after the leadoff track, not simply Eric Carmen as it was in America. Sunrise makes a fitting title for a debut (solo) album, so I wouldn't mind if that's printed on the jacket. (The pre-release image Sony sent out doesn't say Sunrise, though, it looks exactly like the original USA cover.)

Thanks for the info, especially noting the bonus tracks. They look great and really have wet my already hungry appetite.

What a trip to see Eric that early at the Bottom Line no less. You got one on me on this one. You go girl!

When I was in Santa Monica I remember driving down Pico Blvd and on the Santa Monica Civic Center marquee was Eric Carmen.

Missed that show and a Dennis Wilson solo album signing at Tower on Sunset within a week.

I have already pre-ordered the first two re-masters. I'm so psyched for these! :yay:

Managed to get this from one of Amazon UK's Japanese sellers:

Click for full size

This was a Sony Japan exclusive which couldn't be ordered directly by anyone in other countries, but a seller put one up and I snagged it. The outer box cost twice as much as the CDs themselves. :? But, you know ... it's Eric Carmen. I usually pass on those fake Disk Union boxes that are made for the Japanese mini-sleeve replicas, but this was official.

Of course, now I'm concerned that Sony Japan will start to do this for all their Blu-spec remasters ....

Yep, they're the same ones that are out individually. Shrinkwrapped with the obis and everything, same catalogue numbers. Sony just made this special edition with an outer box to house all four. You're not missing any music, Rick.

Good for you Linda. Wait to you hear the first one, nice bottom end and the bonus tracks are excellent.

You are going to really enjoy this set.
