While we're waiting on a new Tame Impala, their fans may want to check out Pond's latest release, Man It Feels Like Space Again. Pond features members of Tame Impala. The music is psych though more loose & less structured than Tame Impala. The domestic album comes out on March 17. I picked up the import as I couldn't wait.

I was a huge fan of Tame Impala when they issued their first EP with the song 1/2 glass of wine. The subsequent albums have got worse as each comes along. I thought the last album was more like Lame Impala sadly. Maybe this will be a return to the more guitar based sound that I loved when they first appeared on the scene.
These clips seem to follow the same techno type beat I can't get into.

Tame Impala's Kevin Parker reveals listening to the Bee Gees while on drugs inspired his new album
Kevin Parker of Tame Impala has said that listening to the Bee Gees after taking mushrooms inspired him to change the sound of the music he was making.
The Australian band, synonymous with the psych-rock revival of recent years, release new album 'Currents' later this month. Parker has already discussed the album's more dancefloor-friendly sound and has now revealed the specific moment that pushed him toward that music.
"I was in LA a few years ago and for some reason we’d taken mushrooms, it must have been the end of our tour,” he told The Guardian in a new interview.
"I was coked up as well, and a friend was driving us around LA in this old sedan. He was playing the Bee Gees and it had the most profound emotional effect. I’m getting butterflies just thinking about it. I was listening to 'Staying Alive', a song I’ve heard all my life. At that moment it had this really emotive, melancholy feel to it. The beat felt overwhelmingly strong and, at that moment, it sounded pretty psychedelic. It moved me, and that’s what I always want out of psych music. I want it to transport me."
Parker also suggests that being put in a box as a psych musician was another factor in deciding to go against that grain. "I don’t like the idea that I’m a one-trick pony, even if I am!" he says. "No matter what else I do, I have to make sure that Elephant isn’t Tame Impala’s biggest song anywhere."
Tame Impala release their third album 'Currents' on July 17 following on from 2012's 'Lonerism' and 2010 debut 'Innerspeaker'.

Amazon isn't showing this available on CD though I know it is. They've also removed the new Iron & Wine from being available on CD, though again I know it is.

Don't go bye-bye, Lawrence. Both discs should be available by or on their release dates. I've explained in a few threads, Amazon has been experiencing systemwide problems with some labels' pre-orders. It's affected a bunch of releases, but they will all be back. Titles which were already pre-ordered before the listings went dormant should still ship out normally.

Cool! I see some mix reviews for the album as there are synths this time round as they take on a more electronic sound. That's fine with me as long as they do it right and from what I've heard thus far, they have.
