I only know their stuff from the last 5 years and it's fantastic, so this set will be a great way to catch up on some of their earlier material. I know they began as a metal band (possibly even black-metal or death-metal), but the records included here are albums #5, 6 & 7, so hopefully they had started morphing into the atmospheric prog band that they are now.

That makes it more interesting. I only checked the USA. Are you pretty certain this is not the death Metal period?
Based on the audio clips I just heard, these are not metal albums. They sound very similar to the more recent releases. Can't comment on the songs themselves but the sound is not drastically different.

I have their fourth (Alternative 4) and fifth (Judgement) full length albums. Both would be classified along the lines of "atmospheric metal." To my knowledge, their earlier albums were more doom metal that featured death metal vocals. I don't recall if either Alternative 4 or Judgement had any death metal vocals...if they did there weren't much of them.
I realize this is a Music For Nations label thing, but it's a shame that Alternative 4 isn't a part of this because I consider that to be a much better album than Judgement. If anybody gets this set and enjoys it, I highly recommend they go out and get a copy of Alternative 4 for their collection.

Thanks for the info, Joseph. I will definitely be getting this set, and once I've spent some time with it I will likely go further back in their discography. Alternative 4 will be at the top of that list.

I preordered this from AmazWAN UK along with several other items I had previously ordered. Cancelled the original order and combined everything into the new order, which probably saved me a few dollars on the processing charge. Now I begin patiently waiting for this shipment (or shipments) which likely won't arrive until early May.

My copy of this set just shipped from Amazon UK, and then I noticed that the product page has the following message:
Quote:
Item Under Review: This product is not currently offered by Amazon.co.uk because a customer recently told us that the item he or she received was not as described.

Looks like the issue with Amazon UK was cleared up, and according to the band's FB page there's no problem with this set.
I just wrapped up my first listen of the three CDs and they're excellent. All the elements I love about their music from the recent albums were in place on these albums. I wouldn't consider this "metal" at all. It's dynamic, atmospheric rock.
Looks like the DVD is not NTSC so I may only be able to watch it on my computer. That's a little disappointing since the majority of music DVDs I've gotten from overseas have been NTSC.

Geff, I've played the contents of this box set a couple of times and, knowing you enjoy their most recent output, I feel confident in recommending it. If there's any "metal" to be found it's in some of the guitar textures. Otherwise, all of the elements we fell in love with over the last few albums were already in place on these records. As for the DVD, I was able to play it last week by hooking my PC up to the TV with an HDMI cable. The live footage is very good quality but not high-def. For some reason the audio & video were a fraction of a second off, which drove me nuts, but I'm wondering if it was a problem with the disc or the playback.

It MIGHT be the HDMI. I know Oppo recommends turning off HDMI audio & using the analog outs.
Also, if you're getting a PAL to NTSC conversion on the video but NOT on the audio I can see where that would cause a timing issue; PAL is 4% faster than NTSC.
