So I've been watching the series on Hulu and I have some questions you may be able to help me out with.

First, was there ever an explanation on where they are?

Second, any reason why no one was surprised to see the little people?

Third, why were the giants such aholes?

I assume they never escaped, surprised there wasn't much of a demand for a reunion movie. Or was there?

That was a remarkably ambitious premise for a 1960s TV budget. I've never seen any of it, and never read much about it. Must have been a great show to watch when you were a kid.

It was actually creepy and scary too. A shame it was never resolved.

On an Earth-like planet. No name for the planet given, or if it was in another dimension or if they'd been transported to a different part of the galaxy.

My thought was that either other Earth people had accidentally ended up there, or the planet had an actual race of little people that we hadn't been introduced to.

Power corrupts. Like on Earth, you have some people that are sympathetic to other life forms and some that see something small and their first instinct is to step on it.

No Escape, no reunion. It wasn't as popular as Lost in Space (which itself never had a reunion movie). It became a forgotten series to the public. Lost in Space had reunions on talk shows and on Family Feud. I don't think that we saw anything like that for Land of the Giants or Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea.

Some reunions at cons though:

Thanks Robert. I had very little memory of it and I'm surprised how serious it is, very ambitious.

It never got too goofy, as Lost in Space did (and Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea sort of did towards the end).

Land of the Giants followed by The F.B.I. was my Sunday night schedule when I was 7 and 8.

BTW, Land of the Giants took the time slot held by Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea, so Erwin Allen had a long run on Sundays on ABC.

I notice from the Wikipedia entry that Hugh linked to (Thanks Hugh!) that a novelization of the show mentioned that other Earthlings had also accidentally gotten stranded on the other planet. Apparently suborbital spaceplanes kept flying into some kind of space warp that turned them into impromptu starships or something. You'd think the authorities back on Earth would be wondering what kept happening to their suborbital passenger planes....

Some of the giants were very creepy, and it was weird how they weren't shocked by the little people. I wonder what Allen had intended for it.

Depends on the number of missing flights I guess. Sort of like the Bermuda triangle.
