So it looks like, based on the success of Into the Woods an Frozen, Wicked is finally getting tapped for cinematic treatment.

http://www.cnn.com/2015/01/09/showbiz/f ... ked-movie/

I enjoyed the original McGuire book. I didn't read any of his sequels. But, I admit that I really enjoyed the musical more. I have seen it three times on stage. Now, there are adaptations of favorites musicals I have loved (Chicago), and some I have been underwhelmed with (The Producers), and some that I really just don't like (Rent). I really don't know where I'm going to land on this one. There is so much potential for greatness and ruination in one place.

The musical is very good. I hope this works out well. The prequel stuff was already handled one way in Franco's 'Oz' movie of a couple years ago, but I hope audiences give this a chance (its a much better story).

Loved the Broadway musical, saw it last year.

The Broadway show is still an enormous draw 11 years into its run, averaging over 90% capacity in ticket sales.

These fairy tale and Broadway films are killing the movie industry.

For every Into the Woods and Wicked movie produced, that's one less superhero movie in the theaters.

I'm waiting for the inevitable: "FAIRY TALES vs. SUPER HEROES" (coming soon to a theatre near you)

We already have songs from Pinocchio showing up in Avengers movies.

I just hope that Ant-Man doesn't end with the audience being asked to clap so that Janet Van Dyne can be brought back to life.

Dr. Strange is the crossover. I hear Cumberbatch played a fairy in his last film.

Well, if all you need is a fairy, this chick beats Cumberbatch.

So I think Anna Kendrick should be Elphaba. One, because she is Anna Kendrick and we need more of her in our lives. And then there is this.

Oh, and the only bad thing about Wicked is that the witch is named "Elphaba". But, that's Gregory Maguire's fault.
