The most complete package to date of John Denver's The Complete Studio Albums.

Contains 24 original RCA albums released between 1969 and 1986, plus Denver’s rare privately pressed 1966 LP, John Denver Sings. Many of these albums have never been available on CD.

Each individual album is packaged in a replica mini-LP sleeve reproducing that album’s original cover art.

Every purchase includes a separate value add item of 4 postcards of photographs taken by John Denver during his travels around the world as well as near his home in Aspen, Colorado.

On the face of it, John Denver was an unlikely candidate for pop stardom. He achieved fame with a message of wide-eyed optimism at a time when the U.S.A. was wracked by political scandals, economic uncertainty and the after-effects of the Vietnam War. His boyish looks and wholesome persona went against the grain of a society obsessed with hipness.

Denver provided an alternative vision — and millions responded to it. A veteran of the folk movement (including a stint with the Chad Mitchell Trio), he emerged as a positive voice who could reach across the generational divide with his music.

Included in this definitive set of John Denver's recordings are his many gold and platinum-selling LPs including Poems, Prayers and Promises (with the hits “Take Me Home, Country Roads” and "Sunshine on My Shoulders"), Rocky Mountain High and Windsong (with such enduring compositions as “Annie’s Song” and “I’m Sorry”) as well as later forays into country and pop, all of which contain hidden gems worthy of deeper investigation.

A highlight of this set is a true rarity, the 1966 LP John Denver Sings, a privately pressed, limited-run album released only to John's friends and family. The recording captures Denver's youthful idealism and guileless spirit — qualities that remained a part of his music until his tragic death in a 1997 plane crash.

Albums Included:
Rhymes and Reasons (1969)
Take Me To Tomorrow (1970)
Whose Garden Was This (1970)
Poems, Prayers and Promises (1971)
Aerie (1971)
Rocky Mountain High (1972)
Farewell Andromeda (1973)
John Denver's Greatest Hits (1973)
Back Home Again (1974)
An Evening with John Denver (1975) — 2 CDs
Windsong (1975)

Spirit (1976)
John Denver's Greatest Hits Vol. 2 (1977)

Some Days are Diamonds (1981)
Seasons of the Heart (1982)
It's About Time (1983)

Does anyone actually own this. I see it's $123.81 at importcds right now, plus they have the 10% coupon. I'm seriously considering it but need a little encouragement. :)

Thanks for your help.

I own it. The set is nicely done and a great way to snap up his (almost) entire catalog at once. Less than $125 for that many albums -- including several that are otherwise unavailable or long out-of-print -- is a seriously sweet deal.

Thanks, Ven.

Still thinking about it. Waiting for the last cycle on my credit card to close before I can pull the trigger anyway. Also hoping the BOC Complete comes back down in price. I canceled it when it went on back order but decided to try to put it on next months bill. I don't think there is any room in the world of collectors for the money conscious. :)

With their current 10% discount, I finally pulled the trigger yesterday. It came out to $116~ including shipping. Now if they actually deliver it, along with my BOC set, I'll be happy. DeepDiscount pulled the "In Stock" when you order it but "Out Of Stock" shortly thereafter routine on me with the Bill Withers box, so I'm not doing very good lately.

I hate the white boarders around the album cover reproductions, a common drawback on these Sony sets. But you get a ton of music for a good price, and the previously promo-only album is pretty cool. This box set does include the bonus tracks featured on the latest reissues of some of these albums, including the expanded An Evening With John Denver. The booklet contains complete credits for each album, including chart data.

That bugs me, too, though I think I'm more irritated with the "facsimilie of original back cover artwork" garbage they stamp on some of the sleeves.

My snide comment notwithstanding, John Denver deserves more respect than he gets. Rocky Mountain High is a near classic album and Poems, Prayers, and Promises is very nearly as good. I'm not buying this huge set, but would anybody care to recommend any of the other early albums?

A nice little greatest hits is all the John Denver I need. Still love to hear his classic hits on XM Radio like "Rocky Mountain High" and "Annie's Song".

I saw the price drop while looking at this sales thread for the Sony Legacy box sets:

viewtopic.php?f=39&t=90244

The John Denver box is part of Amazon UK's Boxing Week promotion, so it's possible that the deal will end in a few hours.

I see the US price over $122.00. This UK price is a steal. therefore I'm in!

As I post this, the Denver box is still sale-priced. Some of the other Legacy boxes still are too, but others rose in price as soon as the calendar turned to 2015 in the UK.
