From Anti-Music.com (oh, how this kicks prog metal ass):

Metal legends Iron Maiden have revealed the title of their new album, The Final Frontier and details of their highly anticipated 2010 North American tour, announced Live Nation today. With 22 dates confirmed, the Live Nation promoted tour will open in Dallas, Texas, on June 9 and finish in Washington D.C. on July 20, making it their most extensive North American tour in many years. (Full confirmed dates below.)

The new album is expected to be released in late summer and following the North American tour, the The Final Frontier World Tour will continue to Europe for a few select major festival and stadium shows.

Says vocalist Bruce Dickinson, "We really wanted to get out and play some shows before the release of the new album later this year, so we thought what better way to kick off the tour than by going back to Canada and the USA where fans gave us such a fantastic reception during our last tour in 2008! We were astounded to see so many thousands of fans packing out the venues, so this time round we will be playing a few more cities we haven't visited for some time, like Dallas, Saskatoon, Detroit, Denver and Pittsburgh, though logistically we couldn't get to a few places we really like to play, which is a shame. It's also great news that our friends DREAM THEATER are able to join us as special guests."

I'd love to see this tour, but I won't go to the venue they're using here. I went there once, and said never again, even if it was for a Beatles reunion w/John Lennon (who was dead, but George wasn't).

Gotta love Bruce-telling it like it is, and God Damn, is he right!

Iron Maiden singer Bruce Dickinson says you won't catch his band trying to use the 'heritage' tag – because all it means is a tired old outfit is trying to fleece you.

Dickinson points out that on the US and Canada leg of their world tour the top ticket price is $90 and as a result they're still an important act with a committed and young audience – unlike certain bands who 'milk' their own crowd.

And he singles out Eagles shows for being an example of the worst kind of prices and the worst kind of attendees.

He tells Noisecreep: "We don't do $250. That's bullshit – what is it with these 'heritage' acts? That's what they've branded themselves.

"Basically you're seeing a bunch of bands who have been around for a while doing the same old shit. They come out of the woodwork after 10 years and go, 'You're going to pay through the nose, so we're going to rape you.'

"What that says to me is, 'We won't be doing this again any time soon' – or, 'If you're crazy enough to pay this money, we'll come round next year and see if it works again.'

"An Iron Maiden show should not be like going to see the Eagles with $50 hot dogs and dickiebows. It should be dirty and smelly and sweaty.

"I'm 51 – but if I had an audience of people my age, I think I'd kill myself. I wouldn't be there next time."

Maiden bring their Final Frontier World Tour to the UK during this year's Sonisphere next weekend at Knebworth Park, also starring Rammstein and Alice Cooper.

I don't know about the not charging to much for merchandise and concessions, part. Beer cost $11 and shirts were $40-$125. I waited til the show was over and got a shirt for $10.

Trooper - A Hand Crafted Ale

Trooper is a premium British beer inspired by Iron Maiden and handcrafted at Robinsons brewery. Being a real ale enthusiast, vocalist Bruce Dickinson has developed a beer which has true depth of character. Malt flavours and citric notes from a unique blend of Bobec, Goldings and Cascade hops dominate this deep golden ale with a subtle hint of lemon.

The Charge Of The Light Brigade, which inspired the Iron Maiden song The Trooper, took place at the Battle Of Balaclava (1854) during the Crimean War when
6-British cavalry courageously charged the massed Russian artillery. This gallant but foolhardy assault resulted in a massive loss of life and came about due to a misunderstanding of an order given by the commanding officer, Lord Raglan.

I don't drink beer, but I'd love to go into a bar, look the bartender in the eye and say "Give me...THE TROOPER!"

Iron Maiden Drummer Nicko McBrain’s Wife Accused of Attempting to Stab Him
by Billy Dukes April 17, 2013 10:58 AM
Share on facebook! Share on twitter!

Rebecca McBrainThe wife of Iron Maiden drummer Nicko McBrain was arrested and charged with domestic battery earlier this year, and she’ll have her date in court next month. Rebecca McBrain will face a judge on May 3 after being accused of trying to stab her husband, and throw logs at him.

The couple live near Boca Raton, Fla., and the incident allegedly occurred at their home on Feb. 24, according to the Boca News Now. She was not successful in her attempt to stab Nicko, but the logs caused minor injuries and she was arrested and booked at the Palm Beach County Jail.

Bravewords reports that the logs were sitting in a fire pit behind the home. The 50-year-old was released on $3,000 bond, and has entered a not guilty plea.

In the early 2000′s, the couple worked together to produce Rebecca’s ‘Voyager’ album. Nicko produced the project and drummed on all tracks in addition to writing five of the eight songs. The couple is thought to have met in 1984 at the Button South in Fort Lauderdale, Fla.

Earlier this month, Iron Maiden announced seven Maiden England Tour dates in the United States

Iron Maiden’s Trooper ale has proved so successful that the makers are having to work overtime – before it’s even gone on sale.

But frontman Bruce Dickinson admits it wasn’t just a case of adding the band’s name to a bottle, and they actually had to audition for brewers Robinsons.

The award-winning firm tied in with Maiden to create a “secret squirrel” recipe. Interest has been so strong that they’ve moved to a six-day week to keep up with advance orders, with over 100 countries having expressed an interest in stocking it.

Brewery boss David Bremner tells the Sun that in their 175-year history they’ve never had to make three batches a day. “We haven’t spent a single penny on advertising,” he says. “This is history in the making for brewing.”

Maiden frontman Bruce Dickinson tells Heineken’s First Orders magazine: “We were asked if we’d like to create our own wine – the company said, ‘Motorhead have done it and it’s been hugely successful.’ I said, ‘Jolly good, but wine’s not really our thing. We’re more beer chaps.’

“We were really keen to get stuck into the brewing process and not just have our name plonked on the bottle. I was impressed with Robinsons because they didn’t instantly jump all over the idea. In fact, we ended up having to audition for them.

“We got together and did a blind tasting of about ten beers. We impressed them with our beer knowledge and we proceeded from there.”

Dickinson describes Trooper as “a great drink to have on a summer afternoon. It’s 4.8% so it’s got a bit of a kick, but it’s still a good session beer. I wanted to make sure it was subtle enough so you could enjoy it for a while.”

More than 250,000 pints of Trooper have been ordered in advance of its launch on May 9.

(hennemusic) UK's Robinsons Brewery have announced that Iron Maiden's Trooper Beer has sold 5 million pints in its first year. The company revealed the news last Friday, on the brand's first anniversary.

Launched in the UK in the spring of 2013, the beverage is named after the classic Iron Maiden song of the same name. Trooper was personally designed and developed as a top quality Premium British Beer by Iron Maiden vocalist and real ale enthusiast Bruce Dickinson with Robinsons' Head Brewer Martyn Weeks.

Since Trooper's launch, the beer has expanded its global coverage and is currently distributed in 40 countries. "When asked a year and a half ago if we wanted to enter into a partnership with the respected Robinsons Brewery to design and brew a real ale for ourselves and our fans, we leapt at the chance," says Dickinson. "What has been particularly encouraging, over and above the international sales success and even over the tremendous reaction from our fans, is how it has been so warmly welcomed by serious beer aficionados outside the Iron Maiden community.

Yeah!

(Classic Rock) Iron Maiden's Trooper beer is to be sold in America in 500ml 'tallboy' cans. The ale, which has been a hit since it was first launched by Stockport-based Robinsons Brewery in 2013, will go on sale in the US in January.

Oliver Robinson, managing director of Robinsons Brewery, tells the Manchester Evening News: "At the start of the millennium only a handful of small North American producers were canning their beers.

"Today, it's the biggest growth area in the US craft industry with more than 400 US craft breweries all electing to can their beers rather than bottle, and I have a sneaky suspicion that a canned comeback could be on the cards for the UK as well".

Those tall-boy cans look really nice, but not quite as nice as the bottles. I have an empty bottle perched on a shelf next to my Eddie's Archive box set. They make a nice pair. Oh, and the beer itself is excellent.

I've heard the beer is great, but I don't like heavy or hoppy beers.

What is it like Rich and how did you have one?

And I always like a beer in a bottle if it's not on draft. In a can...no, but here I'd make an exception.

A friend bought me a bottle of Trooper beer for my birthday earlier this year. I can't really describe it in detail since it was many months ago and I only had one bottle, but I like heavy, hoppy & bitter beers and I don't remember it being particularly any of those. It was a strong & tasty British ale..

I don't recall it being heavy at all, but it's been about 16 months since I had my only bottle (at a Vintage Trouble concert in Cleveland - saw them there again this year, but no more Trooper). I have the bottle above my recording computer. I don't drink a lot of beer, but if I can find this, I'd buy at least a six-pack (or a case if I had to).

Apparently Bruce Dickinson has undergone treatment for a cancerous tumor at the back of his tongue. Get well soon, Bruce.

Published: Feb 19, 2015
Just before Christmas, Maiden vocalist Bruce Dickinson visited his doctor for a routine check-up. This led to tests and biopsies which revealed a small cancerous tumour at the back of his tongue. A seven week course of chemotherapy and radiology treatment was completed yesterday. As the tumour was caught in the early stages, the prognosis thankfully is extremely good. Bruce’s medical team fully expect him to make a complete recovery with the all clear envisaged by late May. It will then take a further few months for Bruce to get back to full fitness. In the meantime we would ask for your patience, understanding and respect for Bruce and his family’s privacy until we update everyone by the end of May. Bruce is doing very well considering the circumstances and the whole team are very positive.
