Unless I'm missing something, it appears that WGV has gone to Vinyl & memorabilia only.

Apparently they must have split into 2 sites. Odd that the big relaunch email doesn't mention the other site; not does the memorabilia site. The site you found DOES link to the memorabilia & vinyl site, though.

Have they stuck with the change of a couple years ago to mp3 only? I can't tell by browsing. I used to spend a ton their when they sold flac. Sure glad i bought everything I wanted before the change to MP3.

Ironically, this was in the days before i was into high res. I bought some Tubes concert that wouldn't play. The reason? They had accidentally uploaded It as 96/24. I had them replace it with a cd quality version............... I hope the corp that bought them didn't erase the 96/24 archives, they had some awesome shows that were very well recorded.

For those who don't know, WGV was bought by some big corporation a couple years ago (My sister interviewed for a job with them & turned the job offer down, lol); she did say they were slowly moving away from actual music.

Last time I checked, some artists are streaming only, while others apparently permit downloads. On the other hand, certain artists have disappeared completely--I believe that any of the Led Zeppelin stuff which had streamed through WV back when the site first came online, is now completely gone.

That said, I don't think that Wolfgang's Vault was ever bought out by any other corporation. If I remember correctly, a guy named Bill Sagen bought the archive of Bill Graham memorabilia/recordings from Clear Channel (it had changed hands more than once since Graham's death) back in the early 2000's and made it a subsidiary of his LLC. He also almost immediately began playing hardball with labels and artists seeking to license any of it. Wolfgang's Vault opened around roughly 2006 and was promptly sued; most of those suits settled a couple of years later, and Sagan began acquiring more recordings/merchandise, spinning off the Concert Vault and making it subscription-only after getting the rights to stuff like the King Biscuit archives. The company may have changed names, but I don't think that it has ever changed hands.

Hmmm....... my sister was 100% sure that some large company had bought them; & at that time everything changed including the CS; I used to be on a first name basis with their old CS manager. Now it's very corporate.

Sorry I don't remember the company's name that she said had bought them. She did say (this was a couple years ago) that they had told her their plan was to open b&m stores in malls & sell memorabilia.
