October is the month to rate movies made from the prolific horror (mostly) master's books.

It's not fair to have Shawshank on there, because I can't vote for anything else, and it's not a horror story nor was it published as Stephen King. But Shawshank is my pick.

Shawshank was published as Stephen King, Jeff. Published as Rita Hayworth and Shawshank Redemption in the Different Seasons collection.
There's some really good movies on that list, some more deserving of the title "Best" than my pick, but I vote for Creepshow.

The Dead Zone - mostly for Walken's performance, but also for the powerful moral dilemma it presents.

Oh, I guess I confused it with something else. There's something out there like that, isn't there? The Running Man maybe? Well, Shawshank's still my favorite!

For me it's Deadzone or The Shining. Both are the work of master directors who took Stephen King's work to another level and both are anchored by amazing lead performances by the lead actor

The two "Bachman Books" I know of as movies are The Running Man and Thinner. Shawshank was from the four-novella collection Different Seasons, which also contained the story that they got Stand by Me from, and Apt Pupil. Overall, Different Seasons is one of the best things he ever wrote. I also enjoyed the similar format Hearts in Atlantis.

I'm a big Kubrick fan so it's The Shining for the win!

The Shining bored the hell out of me. I felt no attachment to the characters, thought Jack Torrance was nuts long before he started being influenced by ant local spiritual presence. I shouldn't be cheering for them not to pull through.
It's probably better than that, though, and, admittedly, I only saw it once.
