There's a box set coming out on October 28th to accompany Bruce Cockburn's memoirs. As a long-time fan, I'm in. Not a lot that's new, though the organization of the discs looks interesting. Also, the live film from 2008 looks good.

Product Description
Sequenced as a companion piece to his simultaneously published memoirs, this limited edition 9 disc set includes
15 rare & previously unreleased songs, and a live in concert DVD - previously unreleased and the artists only full length concert video.

With a career that has spanned four decades and over 30 albums, producing an acclaimed body of work that has sold
over 2 million copies worldwide, Bruce Cockburn is revered by fans and fellow musicians alike as one of the most important songwriters of his generation.

His songs of romance, protest, and spiritual discovery are some of the most unusual to top the charts given their deep
lyrical insight Wondering Where The Lions Are , Call It Democracy , If A Tree Falls and If I Had A Rocket Launcher brought social discussion to the Top 40 airwaves in those decades of commercialism, influencing the likes of U2 and Pearl Jam to address social issues in their own music.

• Each box set is autographed and sequentially numbered
• 117 tracks including 16 rare and previously unreleased songs.
• Previously unreleased live DVD filmed over 3 shows in 2008

the description says 16 rare and unreleased, but the rarities disc only has 14 songs on it? a quick glance through and i can't find the other 2.

and i sure hope that the rarities disc can be purchased separately at some point, especially for those of us who have the entire cockburn catalog.

My pleasure. I'll buy this because I buy everything Bruce Cockburn related. If the bonus tracks from the re-issues are any indication, the new songs won't be that great anyway. It seems he used most of the good stuff on the original albums (though I do love the song I Want To Dance With You).

With apologies to Linda, that's a lot more expensive than buying a signed copy from the label: http://truenorth.labelstore.ca/releases ... x-set.html

It's 119 Canadian, which turned out to be 113 US.

I want to see what it turns out to be at Amazon Canada, which strangely doesn't have it up yet.

I noticed that. Are proof-readers that expensive?

Maybe it has something to do with the exchange rates; 16 songs Canadian=15 songs American

I believe the dvd is already available separately.

This is a blown opportunity. There is so much amazing live stuff in the vaults. Cockburn is one of my top 20 artists, but I can't justify $113-$150 for 14-16 songs. And HTF can he leave Dialogue With The Devil off of a 9 disc box????!

If they do a hi-res edition, I'll have to revisit that stance.

I was thinking thinking the same about Dialogue.

I would be surprised if they sold the rarities disc separately. Bruce is pretty weird about these sorts of things. I only ordered this because I think Bruce is an under-appreciated artist and I want to support him. I could easily have just created my own CDs with nearly identical playlists. I don't expect much from the rarities discs because he tends to use the good stuff on his records and I have the one-offs. I am excited about the concert DVD though. I know Geff thinks it's out there already, but I've never seen it so it will be fun to watch the whole thing. I've seen him about 25 times, and I have about 50 boots of shows dating back to the 70s, and this will be a nice addition to my collection.

I could swear I've seen the dvd on Amazon Canada; my memory is it was about $5 over my budget & I was going to wait for the price to come down. Is there another BC dvd I have it confused with?
