The show was in the sweet spot for me as a child 1966, I was 6 years old and remember watching it in the basement of the house we owned at the time in Malverne NY. Don't remember much from those days TV wise but Batman was big.
And it made me want to a real crime fighter with my own utility belt.

Really hoping for the price to come down pretty substantially.
I do, too, but the price almost implies to me that the sets are designed to be collectors' items and the supply will be limited. I hope I'm wrong, but I fear that they will sell out fast and the price will only go up on eBay and the like.

I mentioned this upstairs, but I gotta think that negotiating clearances from all those guest villains (or their estates) is the main factor in the high list price.
The price for the forthcoming The Wonder Years box set is also over $200, because they actually cleared all the music rights.

It's possible - but WKRP is listing at $140 on DVD and there are rumors (unconfirmed at this point) that they've cleared all the music.
I can live with a non-collector set at a lower price. If it's an actual collectible, that's cool. If it's just going to be a limited set - just limited quantity - I'm less happy.

We don't have a good quality image of this yet. The Blu-ray set will come with a scale model Batmobile and reproductions from the beloved Topps 1966 painted bubblegum card set:

Besides, I assume, all the non-disc extras like the car, does the Blu set have extras the DVD set won't?
It looks like the special features on the discs themselves will be the same in both sets -- the DVD set shows the identical "3 hours of extras" in its description now:

Living on the edge.
Maybe I've been sleeping on this, but has there been any announcement about a version of this set with only the blu rays and not the other junk?

I caved and ordered the BD before this price drop.
I think Amazon's pre-order guarantee is that after you order (until the day it ships), they'll give you the lowest price it was offered at during that time. Makes sense. Keeps people from pre-ordering, canceling, and then re-ordering a lot.
