A vinyl single of "Brand New Toy" b/w "Landslide" will be Paul Weller's Record Store Day UK 2014 release. The A-side is scheduled to be the new track on a forthcoming compilation album, with the B-side remaining exclusive to this release. Right now they're saying that it won't be an American RSD item, but it will certainly be obtainable from Amazon UK:

This is what the Record Store Day single's label will look like. As he did for last year's RSD release, Weller has opted for the classic early '70s Virgin label design:
And there will be a limited number of these released to American retailers, so as soon as Amazon USA has a listing page for it, I'll add that upthread.

Bump: The compilation will be entitled More Modern Classics, and the CD editions will come in Standard and Deluxe flavours. Pre-order details are in the first post. (No word yet regarding a domestic release.) Note that the Deluxe Edition includes both sides of Weller's previous RSD vinyl single, "Flame-Out!" and "The Olde Original", now finally available on CD.
(Even Weller completists need the Deluxe Edition of this release, which comes with a bonus disc -- an official release of the Live From Victoria Park concert which had been a popular bootleg CD in the early '90s.)

Interesting mix of tunes. Glad to see some of the non album singles are on there: The Olde Original, Flame-Out, Starlite, Wild Blue Yonder, there are a lot of them.
Really just want new material though. Longing to see what direction it might take.

Here's the promo video for "Brand New Toy".
That's The Moons' drummer Ben Gordelier in the video. He had been serving as Weller's second percussionist on tour, but now I'm wondering if he's taken over Steve Pilgrim's seat altogether.

I've listened to the song three times now and like it more with each listen. Lots going on in it.
Still want a more "soul" direction for the new album though. Although maybe Paul's voice can't do that in the same way it did on, say, Above the Clouds or Strange Museum back in the day.

The promo video for "Brand New Toy" is back, this time in HD courtesy of Amazon UK, who have exclusive rights to the video. (This also makes me wonder if the 3CD Deluxe Edition of More Modern Classics will end up being an Amazon UK exclusive.)
Further upthread is the first third party seller listing for the RSD vinyl single (with the exclusive B-side "Landslide"), fairly expensive so far.
It doesn't look like the 3CD set is going to be released domestically. However, Amazon UK has lowered the pre-order price by £4, to £16.99:

Universal made Amazon UK remove the embeddable video from their YouTube channel. Unbelievable. More concerned about their "rights" than they are about promoting their artists.
The video is still available for viewing at Amazon UK's listing page:

David,
I love where Weller is at musically, but it feels like this band is having trouble keeping up, and it's probably time to swap out the players again. I think he needs musicians who are as proficient as the old Canterbury bands he's been drawing influence from. That's my honest opinion.
