Today is the 100th anniversary of the man who created my favorite fictional character.

He didn't get his Google Doodle, but at least he got an IMWAN thread.

And let's not forget Bob Kane. Let's see, how old we he be now? 99. He did some great things.

We should use this thread to honor the memories of both Bill Finger and Bob Kane. But really more Bob Kane.

I'm sorry. I'm contractually obliged to not mention Bob Kane.

Except just this once.

It could be! I'm not sure. Just in case, Happy Birthday, Bob Kane!

I didn't know you liked Alan Scott so much.

I don't. But Wildcat is amazing.

It should say "Bird-Man", though.

For awhile, when I was a kid, Wildcat was my favorite character. His costume is simple and monochromatic, but still works because of the mask, which brings just enough detail to balance the lack of detail in the rest of the body. There might be some question about which company copied which with Doom Patrol/X-Men, Swamp Thing/Man-Thing and Red Tornado/Vision, but there is no question that Wildcat beat Black Panther to the look.

I loved how he was written in All-Star Comics as a gruff, straight-talker and kept up with Dr. Fate, Green Lantern, Power Girl, Flash and the other super-powered members with only his fists. I loved how he took out Psycho-Pirate with one punch, when the others couldn't withstand his powers. Having since read the Brave & Bold reprints, I think that he made a great partner for Batman.

I could never have super-powers, but I could be him - if I had the nerve to wear that suit and wasn't afraid of motorcycles.

I like Wildcat a lot. And I do like Alan Scott as well.

Both he and his motorcycle have whiskers, and his motorcycle has a tail. How cool is that?

It's not that cool at all, really.

But other than that, Wildcat does seem pretty awesome.

I once mail ordered some comics from Bill Finger.
Wish I had kept the cancelled check with his signature on it.

I'm not afraid of motorcycles, and I don't guess the suit is that much farther out than some kinds of motorcycle gear. But I don't know how to fight!

I kind of liked Wildcat in "All Star" too.

Happy Birthday, Mr. Finger.

Regarding Bob Kane, this has been verified to be entirely his own creation:

Yes. He let Bill Finger create Batman.

Fixed for accuracy.
