I see a fair amount of movies a year. Since I see most of the movies in the same AMC theater, their MovieWatcher program does a decent job of tracking which movies I've seen and when. I thought it might be a fun little experiment here to keep a running list of the movies I've seen to date in 2005 with a quick grade.
<table cellpadding=2 border=1><tr><th>Date</th><th>Movie Title</th><th>Grade</th></tr>

I just saw WHITE NOISE.... creepy and atmospheric.... but they didn't explain anything! I've heard of leaving some things to the imagination but that's a bit much.
Good to see the return of Michael Keaton though.

Saw PHANTOM OF THE OPERA for a second time tonight. It keeps the "A" rating even after a second sitting.
Something different about this movie... both times I saw it, the audience applauded at the end. Very rare.

Since it's directed by Schumacher, did the Phantom have nipples?

Checked out Topher Grace, Dennis Quaid, and Scarlett Johansson in IN GOOD COMPANY tonight. An overall enjoyable flick - delivers exactly what is promised in the trailers. I doubt it will end up on anybody's "MUST SEE" list (well, maybe the Topher Grace Fan Club's MUST SEE List), but I had a good time. B-

Just got back from Elektra. Even with my limited knowledge of the Elektra mythos, I found this movie quite enjoyable. (Maybe my limited knowledge helped)

Just saw MILLION DOLLAR BABY - brilliant, touching film with a lot of heart.
Now I understand why Ebert said this was one of the best movies he had seen last year.
Clint is just a masterfull storyteller.
Its not just a boxing movie..its a movie about life, and heart, and friends...brilliant.

Finding Neverland was on tonight's docket. Wow... very touching movie (not a dry eye in the house!) and very well done.
That leaves "Sideways" as the only movie up for Best Picture that I haven't seen yet. They all deserve the nods... I still think MIllion Dollar Baby is going to take it.

Dan,
Seeing your opening list of movies and dates of viewing, I've come to a sudden realization. I need to get out more! I haven't been to a movie in over a month and you've been out gallivanting Roger Ebert style each week.

Just got back from "In Good Company" and while a sweet, heartwarming story, I was surprised that before it came out, it was getting awards buzz. The corporate buyout paranoia and seeing stacked office chairs in the hallway was familiar for both me and my date. Luckily, we were able to laugh. I'd give it a solid B.

Assault on Precinct 13.... average movie, average grade. Decent acting, lots of action, but no suprises and little suspense.

Finally saw Lemony Snicket today. I thoroughly enjoyed it - several laugh out loud moments and a smile on my face the rest of the time. Jim Carey did a great job. I haven't read any of the Lemony Snicket books, so I can't tell you how "true to the source" the movie is.

Tonight's move was Hide and Seek with Dakota Fanning and Robert Deniro. It wasn't great. It wasn't bad. It was OK. I felt the movie went on too long after "the reveal" trying to make it "scary". It wasn't.

De Niro's gravitated from having each of his films be an event to appearing in virtually every other release put out there. What, does the guy appear in like six or seven movies per year? I guess as he's aged he's wanted to expand his body of work but unfortunately I think he's also diluted the overall quality of his oeuvre.
Last De Niro movie I remember that had anyone excited was HEAT, with Al Pacino.

C'mon, man! Are you insinuating that Meet The Fockers shouldn't go right up there with Godfather II or Taxi Driver or Raging Bull or Goodfellas? That's just crazy talk!
