This is unexpected news. Warner Bros.' Comic-Con panel isn't until later today, but apparently some major news is about to be announced. The L.A. Times' Hero Complex blog is reporting that the studio has decided what their follow-up film to "Man Of Steel" is going to be, and not it's not a Superman sequel or a "Justice League" film. According to the newspaper's blog, WB intends to announce a film that features Superman and Batman together; a team-up movie as it were. A 2015 release is being eyed. Update: A "Flash" movie is being eyed for 2016, and a "Justice League" movie for 2017.

I'm hoping they due something a little more original with the outfit, some kind of frictionless material, etc. since no one seems to want to do tights but at the same time, I'd think armor would really work against a guy like Flash.

Perhaps they should go the Captain America route and introduce the idea of red tights earlier in the movie with Barry Allen as an unsuccessful high school/college track runner. They could even have his fellow athletes sarcastically give him the nickname of "Flash" because of his history of coming in last in the races and his inability to get to school and practice on time, a trait that has been part of the Silver Age Flash since his inception.
I would like at least one of the DC super movies to feature a more light-hearted hero, and Flash really seems like it could be the one. So, make it younger, and, like Flameboy suggests, do some high school track meets, coming to class late, oversleeping, etc.
I'd be okay if he stayed fairly young, too. More of a Wally West movie than Barry Allen. Then work in the ravenous appetite, needing to eat dozens of hamburgers, etc. Use his superspeed to run home to pick up schoolwork he still leaves at home, etc. only now he can get to class only on time because of his powers.
If at the end, they want to make it all coming of age, defeats Grodd or whomever, then fine. But let him be a boy and actually enjoy his powers. The audience will enjoy his powers, too, and learn along with him what he can and cannot do.
I never meant to imply that I wanted a younger Flash, just an origin that begins younger to lay the groundwork for his costume and irony of his super-powers. I think that it is very important to have Barry a scientist working in a lab when the lightning strikes and I hope they keep that origin and not over-complicate it.
And please, please, please, please no speed force, but with Johns' influence, I'm sure that will be the focus and go a long way to complicating what should be a simple superpower concept.
A light hearted DC superhero movie right now would be a really welcome breath of fresh air. And I think you have to have that variety in there. I wouldn't want to go teenager with Flash but maybe early 20's and he's working as the newest guy in the crime lab, something like that.
Flash villain(s) that I think would work? I think Grodd, Captain Cold, Professor Zoom, Weather Wizard, Mirror Master, and the Trickster could all work, with a little altering of Weather Wizard and Trickster. Shade would be another interesting choice.
No Captain Boomerang, Heat Wave, Top or Pied Piper, please.
The Weather Wizard would be pretty good, actually. Barry Allen could be a young cop investigating the death of Clyde Mardon. Clyde's brother Mark, having just recently escaped from prison begins work on his brother's scientific notes. Maybe the notes aren't complete, so Mark needs to try to acquire something that Barry found, etc.
That way you could have them kind of facing each other first without powers/abilities, and then later on with abilities. Weather Wizard visually would look pretty good on the screen. I suppose you could have him summon the initial lightning bolt to smash Barry inside his lab. I probably wouldn't go there, but…

Ezra Miller is every stoned guy that came into my shop, seemed like they walked into the wrong store, and then correctly explained the difference between the Golden Age and Earth 2 by using the Darrins from Bewitched as examples.
