As promised, Billy is readying the remastered deluxe version of the "Aeroplane Flies High" box set for a July release. I wonder what the new box will look like?

i really wish Smashing Pumpkins would release a disc of all the covers they've done.

Isn't most of this (all of it?) on the deluxe Mellon Collie? I remember I was able to burn all the Mellon Collie singles (which I collected in the day) onto 2 cdr's. I will acknowledge there were some really good b sides on there.

Not at all... quick count about 14 tracks that are on Aeroplane that are not on MCIS Deluxe. This count doesnt include the 7 or 8 tracks that are in alternate form on the MCIS Deluxe (e.g., remix, demo version).

I have read that the Aeroplane reissue will also have 1 or 2 bonus discs of further outtakes and rarities! A bit indulgent for an singles/bsides collection but pretty cool for the uber fan. I will be picking this up.

I recently received the deluxe Mellon Collie from PopMart last week and man, I am really enjoying it.

I'll be getting the "Aeroplane" as well.

Does anyone find the Amazon.com price rather odd ($150+). That's Immersion level pricing. And this for a set that is it archival material that could probably fill maybe 2 cds? Is this going to be some sort of info-dump set, collecting all remaining unreleased material up to this point? Multiple DVDs of concerts? I'm dying to see what the actual track listing is.

A quick internet search found an article from last month saying that Billy Corgan has written liner notes for thirty three songs. The original release of Aeroplane Lies High also had thirty three songs. However, there appears to be at least one substitute as that same article said that a thirty for minute version of "Silverfuck" was to be included in the set. The deluxe edition of "Mellon Collie" appears to contain nine songs that directly appear in the "Aeroplane" set, with an additional eight that may be remixes, demos, etc. So, that would start the "Deluxe Reissue" off with possibly seventeen of its thirty three songs already having been presented in the previous "Deluxe Edition". Even if they honor the original track listing, there iis only about 2 hrs 10 minutes of material spread over those five discs. Which could be cut down to two discs in a pinch. So, this raise a big question mark over what actually will constitute a "Deluxe Edition"? I'm at a loss here, but one way or another, we'll know in a few weeks what was they are.

Here's the tracklisting--42 bonus tracks have been spread across the five original CD's, plus two DVD's. A bunch of this stuff has circulated--Corgan reportedly gave somebody a cassette containing the Gravity Demos back in the day.
