Is this Sand In The Vaseline: Popular Favorites or Popular Favorites: Sand In The Vaseline? Even official discographies appear to be in conflict on this issue...

It's a question that has plagued us for at least two decades.

What does it say on the spine? That's what I'd go with.

I find the CD spines to be inconclusive... pictures of the cassette suggest the latter version, but both also include the dates (which were actually different for each separate disc/tape).

Ha! Of course they couldn't make it easy on us.

another one:

the first jackson browne album is NOT called "saturate before using"

it is entitled, simply: "jackson browne"

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fables_of_ ... nstruction

Quote:
On the vinyl and cassette releases, side one was labeled the "A side" and side two "Another side." The "A side" label bore the title Fables of the Reconstruction, while "Another side" bore the title Reconstruction of the Fables. The front cover of all releases shows the words "Fables of the", while the back cover reads "Reconstruction of the". The CD label has the title simply as "Fables of the Reconstruction", while both spines are labeled "Reconstruction of the Fables". The ambiguous title makes possible reference to both the Reconstruction era of the United States and the literary process of deconstruction.

Being a CD guy, I'd never seen this on vinyl or cassette... having said that, I think the album is pretty universally known by the former title.

I would go with just Too Much Too Soon... that is also consistent with the band's official online discography.

For the record, I've decided to go with Popular Favorites 1976-1992: Sand In The Vaseline, Discs 1 and 2.

Incidentally, anyone ever heard of this?

I saw that on Spotify recently and wondered what it was. I thought maybe it was an import album that had slipped through somehow, but the Amazon listing makes it look like an mp3-only release.

Sweet. I just downloaded the "People Like Us" with the John Goodman vocal.

I'd like to eventually acquire all the movie versions of the "True Stories" songs, with the actors doing the vocals. I'm still missing the female vocalist version of "Dream Operator" and the preacher doing "Puzzlin' Evidence."

I think it was originally an iTunes release. Some info here:
