Megadeth will be celebrating the 20th Anniversary of their hit album, Countdown To Extinction, with a new deluxe reissue and tour.
The 20th Anniversary Edition of Countdown To Extinction will be released on November 6th as a 2CD lift-top box and digitally. Countdown To Extinction's new commemorative edition pairs the remastered original album with a 1992 concert, recorded live at San Francisco's Cow Palace, which has never before been released in its entirety. The concert audio has been newly remixed for this release. The physical and digital versions both include a booklet with a new liner notes essay by music journalist Kory Grow, and the 2CD box also contains a 24" x 36" poster and four collectible postcards.

Megadeth will perform the album in its entirety on their North American Countdown To Extinction 20th Anniversary Tour this November and December.

This was Megadeth's biggest selling album but I have to admit I'm not a fan of this one. Was hugely disappointed that Mustaine went away from his largely unpredictable songwriting style into the verse/chorus/verse/chorus formula for almost all of the songs. Megadeth were never the same for me after Rust In Peace which is one of the best metal albums ever recorded.

Still would have been interested in this if they would have found some unreleased studio material to include. Some interesting demos were included on Mustaine's completely remixed version of Countdown and while not all demos are worth the listener's time those definitely were. But just a live show....I'll pass.

Also, doesn't the concept/packaging for this look identical to the reissue of REM's Document album?
