The Comics Journal took the comic book medium very, very seriously.Well and good, but did they have to take all the fun out of funny books? Wizard came out of the '90s speculator boom, and never quite left it.Usually goofy, but easier to get thru than TCJ. Both victims of the internet.
TwoMorrows does put out great magazines,so I fixed the poll.

I think the good outweighed the bad with TCJ. Fun and intellectual aren't mutually exclusive.
Wizard was just so mindless, so very much of the time.

Both TCJ and Wizard aren't even worth as toilet paper.
I've never read Amazing Heroes.

Loved AMAZING HEROES. Meaty articles that didn't just focus on flavour of the month, good reviews, thorough news!

Comics Scene in the late 80s/early 90s was a lot better than Wizard. Kind of a comics version of Starlog.

When it came out I was already too old for it. Maybe so... I was between the ages of 12 through 16 when I regularly read it. There was a period of time where the humor was on the back-burner and they had some in-depth interviews and articles on comics... or at least that I remember, anyway.

Comics Scene, Comic Book Artist, Alter Ego, and Back Issue are light years better than the three options above.

The Comics Journal. While they can be way too far over in the elitist end, their historical articles and interviews are well worth reading. While I'm not a huge fan of Gary Groth or his personal preferences, his magazine is one of the only things interested in pursuing the idea of comics as a separate and meaningful artform. I don't agree with half of what they say, but it comes from an intellectual place. I never regret the time spent reading their stuff.

Loved getting these in the mail and unfolding them to see what the fan art cover was each month.

The Comic Reader was my favorite source for news, reviews, & interviews back in the early 80's. Comics Scene was quite good, and Amazing Heroes was also a regular purchase. Those were the good old days...

Those were the good old days... I read the blue issue of Comics Scene with interviews with Jim Aparo and Gene Colan until it fell apart. Another great issue is the second one where Jack Kirby said that he thought dinosaurs were intelligent like humans.

(some magazine) had a great article on the New Teen Titans circa Dick Grayson becoming Nightwing. Would love to have a copy to replacemy long-lost one.
Edited to reflect that I have no idea what magazine!
