Also I keep getting errors when trying to access your website or music blog and songs still aren't loading for me :(

:(

I don't know what the issue might be. I just tested from work; they all load fine for me, and I was just able to download some of the songs.

EDIT: Nevermind, I see what you meant. More code errors; remnants of HTML I forgot to take out when I posted the links here. All better now.

That sounds amazing. I used to buy the "Sugo Collections" that helped me relax and were great for meditation, But these have them beat hands down. Great Job!

Bannings: Liza Tarbuck Forum. No, really.
My ipod threw up some interesting tune or other a couple of weeks ago and when I idly checked out what it was, it turned out to be one of Taft's offerings. Of course, I can't remember what it was now... sorry.

Thanks, John. Glad you enjoyed.

Sadly, I forgot to drop this on my own iPod. I wanted to give it a listen at work today but now I can't. Instead I'm forced to listen to an embryonic version of the follow-up (which was recorded at about the same time as this one).

I do have to say, "The Muse Curls Up, Dies" surprised me. The title is a reference to the track being the last in a brief but prolific burst of creativity on this project. After recording hours and hours of material I kind of felt like things were drying up. Nothing was clicking, but I wanted to get out just a few more tracks. I sat down and recorded that one and just didn't feel it. Thought it didn't work. I felt like that was it, the muse is dead, this spurt of creativity is over, better luck next time. Months later when I went back and started mixing it, though, I realized I had something there. It's now my favorite track on this album.

Very interesting stuff Eric - wherever do you find the time to do all these things?

I usually do it at night after everyone has gone to sleep, or during the brief times when I have the house to myself. Like if the Mrs. runs out to the store and takes Li'l Taft with her, I might plug in the guitar and do a little work. Mostly comes in spurts; this was all recorded late last year, for instance, I only just got around to finalizing the music.

I remembered to put it on my iPod, so I am now listening. Even on a softer record like this one, the little freakouts always please me, such as how The Second Story drifts easily for a while before descending into these stuttering chord strikes. Since this music is also improvised, never written, I often come across unexpected moments I hadn't planned on having. Then I just let them take me wherever they want to go.

There have actually been four since the one I posted in this thread, making this the fifth, but anyway ...

Falling Back Into It

DISC ONE
1) Spinning Lecterns (2:32)
2) Womb Encasement (16:50)
3) Election (6:44)
4) Paint Brushes (7:42)
5) Without Waking (6:46)
6) Untitled (10:08)

DISC TWO
1) Projection (1:44)
2) Unbroken Sac (7:03)
3) The Day of the Tears (12:23)
4) They Forget The Tab At The Way To The Station (5:25)
5) Summer Day Cools To Grey (4:22)
6) Pangaea (15:04)

NOTES: Recorded from 2009 to 2011, maybe. This is the first m2 double record. RSJ plays additional guitar on "Pangaea". "Without Waking" was originally recorded for an abandoned collaboration with Carl Sagan's Ghost and is presented here with only the m2 contributions. "Untitled" was recorded in 2008. Cover photo by ESJ. All songs (c) ESJ 2012.

Also at:

and

http://shoegaze99music.blogspot.com/201 ... -2012.html

EDIT: Realized my notes are wrong. Spinning Lecterns, Projection, and Election are all from 2008, too. I originally intended to do an EP called "Election" -- all three tracks were recorded on Election Day 2008 while watching the returns -- but I found the idea too trite. Set those tracks aside and forgot they existed until recently. It only clicked with me just now where they came from (they've been in the front running the last several m2 albums).

This album is about death. Enjoy?

Image

The Third Day

1) Boxes Filled With It (3:25)
2) Only Moving Backward (3:48)
3) Slow Decay (14:16)
4) Not Alone Anymore (9:00)
5) Seeing Light (5:25)
6) Frayed Mind (1:27)
7) Multi Organ Failure (6:14)

The recording is deeply flawed in spots -- my wah pedal has shitty wiring and it was acting up bad -- but I felt like in this case I'd just present the whole session as an honest document of that 45 minutes or so rather than try to massage it. Circumstances dictated that I present this one as a whole.

Thanks, and SO sorry I didn't see these comments earlier or respond. The times I've checked into IMWAN over the last year or two, I have not really dabbled in the WANderground. Just keeping up with the Playroom is enough!

But sincerely, thanks for giving this stuff a shot. It's not even remotely for anyone, I recognize that, so I'm always flattered when anyone gives it a few minutes of their time.

Cheers!

TWO FINAL OLD ONES:

All this stuff is just droning guitar, with no drums, or bass, or songs, or solos, or any concept of melody or songs or structure. It's the sounds of space and background music and orbits and noise.
