Eagle Rock have set a September 25 CD, DVD and Blu-ray release date for Gary Moore's Blues For Jimi. Here are the official details and the tracklisting: This release captures a unique concert featuring Moore playing Jimi Hendrix tracks, including such classics as "Purple Haze," "Foxy Lady," "The Wind Cries Mary," "Hey Joe," "Voodoo Child (Slight Return)" and many more. Filmed at the London Hippodrome on October 25, 2007, it was part of the launch for the Jimi Hendrix "Live At Monterey" program. At the end of the night, Gary was joined by Mitch Mitchell and Billy Cox of the Jimi Hendrix Experience for three tracks. The full line-up for this show was Gary Moore (guitar, vocals); Dave Bronze (bass); Darrin Mooney (drums) with Billy Cox (bass on tracks 9-11, and also vocals on the first two of those) and Mitch Mitchell (drums on tracks 9-11). Both Gary Moore and Mitch Mitchell have passed since this concert took place, which makes the recording of this incredible night so special. Gary Moore was one of the finest British guitarists of all time and is one of the few players who could pay homage to Jimi Hendrix's groundbreaking and truly distinctive guitar style. This is a stunning tribute from one master guitarist to another. TRACK LISTING 1) Purple Haze 2) Manic Depression 3) Foxy Lady 4) The Wind Cries Mary 5) I Don't Live Today 6) My Angel 7) Angel 8) Fire 9) Red House 10) Stone Free 11) Hey Joe 12) Voodoo Child (Slight Return) CDhttp://www.amazon.com/dp/B008NR8YTQ/?tag=imwan-20DVDhttp://www.amazon.com/dp/B008NR91DO/?tag=imwan-20Blu-rayhttp://www.amazon.com/dp/B008NR90HQ/?tag=imwan-20

I'm totally in. Hope Eagle doesn't fuck up the mastering per usual.

The USPS considers Northern Ireland & GB to be one country. And In fact they also don't allow "United Kingdom" at ALL as a country address. They want "England", "Great Britain", "GB & Northern Ireland", "Wales" or "Scotland"

It's actually a catch 22 & very frustrating. Pay Pal will ONLY accept "United Kingdom". The USPS will ONLY accept individual country names. Thank God for Wikipedia for those of us in the USA regularly shipping to the UK!

Wow. IP, thanks, I'm all over this one. And considering IP's post is exactly as it appears on Gary's website, the "British guitarist" quibble is minor, although I don't hear anybody referring to U2 or The Corrs as British bands.

James-knew you'd be all over this one. As for the British/Irish thing-it's an arbitrary issue and really silly. Gary Moore is Irish! Rory Gallagher is Irish! Thin Lizzy, Van Morrison, Boomtown Rats, etc.-Irish! When I saw that Goldmine front cover feature on Gallagher as British guitar legend I was baffled. I will never call these guys British, but I do know why it is listed as such for whatever reasons. As for this release I've heard Gary do an amazing version of "Red House"-but has anyone heard clips from this? I can't believe he played some tunes with Mitchell and Cox! This has to be a good one!

The Commitments - IRISH! I will likely pick this up as well. Love Gary Moore, and it's got most of my favorite Hendrix stuff.

I'm surprised Janie hasn't torpedoed this one yet, as it isn't featured on the Authentic Hendrix website, not that they are releasing it.

I suspect she'll be more than glad to pocket the songwriting royalties.

I'll be looking for this as well. While I was living in the UK, I saw Gary at a small club (Nottingham Rock City) doing a warm up gig for the Monsters of Rock shows and he played mainly blues numbers, including a couple of Hendrix songs I believe ("Fire" for sure, can't remember the rest). Great show.
As for the Irish/UK thing... I just remember how sensitive the Scots and Irish were about being called Brits...

Will probably get this but I am much more interested in the CD/DVD release of his "Wild Frontier Tour" (Stockholm 1987) that was *supposed* to come out last December but is still awol.

Over at gary-moore.com you can listen to 3 tracks: Purple Haze, Foxy Lady and Fire. Gary does an outstanding job on the first 2 and really makes me appreciate Hendrix even more when listening to them, because Hendrix was playing these 40 years ago.

I picked up the cd and dvd at Best Buy today . I have not watched the dvd yet but I have listened to the cd and it kicks ass . Gary's playing is fantastic . It's very good from start to finish . I guess Janie Hendrix approves of it , she produced it .

Does anyone know how badly brickwalled this is? Eagle has a rep for 100% compression.

Got to hear it. As I suspected, music is quite good & it is quite compressed as is Eagle's norm (DR7, which so far is tied for the worst I have seen).

It's what set them apart from most other players. Gary's ending solo on the song, "Still Got The Blues" is right up there among the best ever played by anyone. Glad I bought this DVD.
