CD Japan has these up for preorder. SHM CDs. Listed as 2012 remasters. About $30 each. They list at least the first S/T album as having "only 5 remaining to ship as preorder".

SHM and Remastering are NOT the same thing.
it could be SHM without being remastered.
anybody have these yet, and could look at the liner notes
to verify IF they've actually been remastered?
(and perhaps who did the remastering and when.)

only to find out that they're NOT remastered at all.

In my very limited experience, most of the Universals are stunningly well remastered, & Warner's seem to show the least improvement. I assume these are Warner related.

ok... so i went to japancd.co.jp (an AMAZING place to get your japanese product),
and looked up the aforementioned three releases.
first off: it's RLJ discs 1,2 and 4 (Girl At Her Volcano being #3).
the japanese seller indeed shows THESE three as 2012 remasters.
but, for the record (and the aurally addicted), the previous batch
of RLJ SMH/cardboard replicas does NOT show them as remastered.
(the previous batch included: Pop-Pop, Flying Cowboys and Traffic From Paradise.)
it looks like i'll be ordering these new three in a week or two
after i close on the townhome i'm buying.
first things first! wait... maybe that means i'll order them today.

regarding cdjapan.co.jp (this is the corrected web address).
i've ordered directly from them for over a decade.
the prices cannot be beat by any domestic seller.
these RLJ releases are going for about $30.52 each,
plus shipping/handling which ranges from 10 to 20 bucks per order (NOT per disc).
service is second to none, and you earn a 10% credit good on your next purchase.
so, you could argue that these discs are going for $27.47 each!
even with free-shipping, amazon has them at $46.95,
and cduniverse has them at $41.15. not even close!

i can only apologize for the percocet - it's a necessary evil right now.
anyway, you can also check-out hmv.co.jp as HMV-Japan.
to either compare prices for these and/or other products.
i haven't bought from HMV-Japan in years, so i can't chime-in
as to their service.

The Hoffman site has a new thread on these. Someone has already received them and says they are definitely remastered. There are complaints about them being loud and waveforms are being bandied about.

We must believe in Waveforms. Your ears will lie to you.

Personally, while I tend to stay away from Hoffman due to the flaming & heavy handed mods, in my experience the consensus on sound quality of a given release there is often spot on.

I know a lot of people here think the waveform thing is BS, but:

1. it often is NOT at all BS
&
2. I usually don't need waveforms, my ears can usually tell a good master from a crummy one.
