from antimusic.com:

Heart will release a new studio album titled Fanatic in October.

Guitarist Nancy Wilson revealed the news during an interview on The Eighties Experience radio show with JJ Buchanan on FM 88.5 KSBR in Southern California on Sunday, February 19.

It looks like 2012 will be a big year for the band. A box set and biography are in the works, and the band is booking live dates well into the year. See their tour dates at the band’s official website.

The box set is expected to contain classic songs as well as tracks that weren’t represented on the band’s major label albums.

Heart’s most recent album was Red Velvet Car, which was released in August 2010. Prior to that album’s release, they had only released one album, 2004’s Jupiters Darling, since 1993’s Desire Walks On.

I think it's interesting when Legacy releases a new album.

So, in a weird way, Heart is back with their old label (Sony owning their Columbia/Epic catalog and all...)

interesting to see if the box set will include ann wilson's song form the very rare "golden child" soundtrack, 'the best man in the world'.

Billboard has a new article, which indicates we'll be buying multiple copies to get all the bonus tracks. Again. Why can't we just have one double-or-triple-priced, super-deluxe edition from somewhere and be done?

Some might. I won't. I've long grown tired of that game.

I'm with you on this. I feel like the album the way it is released must be what the artist had in mind for their work. If it wasn't good enough to make the album, it must be non-essential. If I find the tracks somewhere, fine; if not, I don't drive myself crazy trying to find them!

But this is Heart, and to me, ALL Heart music is essential. To quote Witch Hazel, "Call it a weakness..." Image

I'm getting really tired of this bs too. From a record co's pov, either the fan buys 5 copies of basically the same album, or gets sued.

Too bad a boycott would never work (& they know it), that would be sending a good message to the bean counters.

This is one ugly cover! The fans on Facebook seem to think it's incredible and beautiful, etc., etc., so maybe it's just me...

I'm with you, Patrick. That cover is just not attractive at all.

Bleah...I hope the bland cover is not an indication of the music that will be inside!

Ugh. Loved the cover of "Red Velvet Car," but they had to look long and hard to find a photo of the Wilson sisters this unflattering to both.

Picture doesn't bother me, but the typeface and art direction makes it look like one of those cheapo "10 Best" comps.

I suppose it is possible it is not finalized, BUT Ann and Nancy shared the link on Facebook and wrote "We're excited to debut the official cover art for Heart's upcoming studio album FANATIC!"
