Hanzo, have you read the other ABC books? And on a related note, how did the final Tom Strong read to you? That issue is kind of a capstone to all the ABC titles, not just Tom. If you were following the whole line, that last issue was really gratifying.

I had read it when it came out. It was good but nothing I'd go nuts for.

I have Tom Strong, Top Ten, Tom Strong's Terrific Tales... and not much else. I still haven't gone for the rest but I imagine I eventually will.

Oddly enough, our argument mature discussion in the other thread actually reminded me a bit of why I liked Top Ten. The premise -- in which every single person in the story had all the trappings of superheroes (not just powers, but also costumes and alternate identities, which is to say, the "fetishy" aspects) -- was such that the people who were truly special and worth reading about in that "world" were the people who actually did something worthwhile with those trappings: The cops, the people who actually were dedicated to protecting others, maintaining law and order, etc. In a way, it was the most genuinely "heroic" superhero comic Alan Moore has ever written. Which was its most attractive feature, in my eyes.

GET THE TESLA ONE-SHOT.

I don't know if you'd like Promethea or Tomorrow Stories. People tend to be down on the "lecture"-ish aspect of Promethea. Although the artwork is pretty magnificent.

I think Tomorrow Stories is the hardest sell of the ABC line, because all five of the concepts in the anthology were pretty weak. Cobweb was the only one that really interested me. (That was the fetishy one with lesbian overtones. Just my cuppa tea!)

Tesla by Sprouse is one of my comic book crushes. Great character.

That's what I liked about it. It forced the reader to recognize that "superhero" has two parts, the super and the hero.

I also liked the dramatic line in A Few Good Men. It forced the viewer to recognize there's more to being a good soldier than being tough and brave.

I loved TS. It was one of my favorite ABC titles.

I meant Tomorrow Stories.

But why is a surprise I'm a Tom Strong fan? Haven't I said before Tom Strong is probably my favorite Alan Moore work? I love it so much I can't bear the thought of any other writer touching him!

There is no mischief intended in the text of the post.

I can't speak, however, of its subtext.

Are you saying it is the mischief that dare not speak its name?

Instead of enjoying my post, you go looking for hidden meanings.

You're too old for my posts.
