Been there, done that. Hang in there and before you know it you'll be on the other side of rehab and back to your life, with appropriate changes. You really, really will be fine.

Take care Pete. What's left of the Philly music stores are suffering in your absence.

I'm late to this... but get well soon IP/Pete! Don't think this makes me want to cheer for the Flyers though! ;-)

Thank you very much for all the well-wishes. It was quite awful (especially when I went back in after being home only for 1 day because of chest pains-but that checked out OK), and quite the surprise.
Seeing as I've never had a puff of a cigarette and barely drink (and only seldom do the Cheech & Chong thing), I was not a typical candidate for a heart attack.
But, the combo of horrible cholesterol and triglycerides and hereditary issues, was enough. My diet isn't great, but I didn't think it was that bad-but that, combined with family history was the key.
I was mowing the lawn last Friday and could barely breathe and it felt like someone was crushing my chest. I stopped, drank some water and then finished the lawn. That night after dinner I went to watch the Flyers game at my friends house, watched a bad movie and came home.
Saturday after I woke up, I showered and was getting ready to go to work when the pain came back fullforce. I couldn't breathe and my left arm went numb. I was alone and scared as hell. My wife was out with my Mom so I called her but there was no answer, so I called my Dad and he told me to call 911. I didn't-because I didn't know what was really happening (though I had an idea), but my wife pulled up shortly thereafter, and we went straight to the hospital. They took me right away and once I was told I was having a fairly significant heart attack I broke down still hoping at that point that it was some sort of allergy reaction.
I was then transferred to another hospital and they put 2 stents in and there we go. The hospital stays were both awful and I hope not to be back.
I still have some chest discomfort and I feel very tired, but otherwise not so bad all things considered. I have to take it easy for a while and no work for a few weeks. I'm on lots of medicine now and I look like Keith Richards on a good weekend from all the blood work they did, but if I can get rid of this discomfort (not so bad, but irritating) I'll be good. The diet change has been tough as hell, but I'll get used to it!
My friends ended up buying me a floor seat to Rush which was damn nice and I got hundreds of texts and lots of visits, plus the well wishes from here, so always nice to feel the love.
Again, thanks to everyone for the posts!

Pete, you are a very lucky man. Living alone, that sort of thing scares the heck out of me.

Glad all is going to be ok.

Pete, that sounds terrifying. We're glad you were able to soldier through it. Hope it stays the last heart attack you ever have!

Wow. Somehow I missed this thread, but am happy to see Pete has recovered enough to post here. Take care my music loving friend, and may that love of music be a great help to you as you recover.

Glad you're back--it's been a long, quiet week. Very scary--I'm going to eat salads and forgo burritos (for a few days anyway).

Lord knows, I probably wouldn't have called 911 either, but how amazing that your wife showed up when she did.

IP, it's great to have you back. That is one scary ordeal. Hopefully that's the last time you have to go through anything like that. Here's to a quick and full recovery..

Rush should dedicate "Closer To The Heart" to you.

Wow. After reading that, it sounds like you're very fortunate, Pete. It's good to have you back. Glad to hear that you're home and on the mend. Take care of yourself, and take it easy for a while. Best wishes.
