Pistols would never fly -it also sounds just a bit like the Detroit Pistons? Voodoo would be great-screw the stupid Arena team. Pelicans would be OK. Hurricanes is not only a bad omen, but also highly unoriginal (see NHL, NCAA).
Vampires would be amusing (Lestat anyone?). Plus, if they keep playing bad "sucking" would be easy.
I think New Orleans Brass would be quality-they had a minor league hockey team use that years ago and I always thought that was a good one.
Of course, none of this is official yet-the NBA says no name change right now, but I have to think there will be one. I still like the Hornets name and logo and colors for the team, but maybe something more NO-centric would be wise.

The Knicks beat the Wizards Friday night, 103-65. I know the Wizards suck, but 38 points?!?!

While he's serving his NBA suspension, he could always sign on for a stint in the NHL playoffs............just sayin'!!

Blake Griffin and James Harden, 2 of the most arrogant young players in the NBA, are going to find out the hard way that the NBA's older teams that actually have pride & tradition, namely the Lakers and Celtics, don't want to hear their trash talk and see them being arrogant on their home court--until they've actually DONE something. Harden had gotten into it with Kobe in a game earlier this year at OKC. Serge Ibaka had bloodied Metta's nose earlier in the game. What kind of an idiot runs up on Metta World Peace while he is pounding his chest and celebrating throwing down a left-handed tomahawk over both Durant and Ibaka? ZERO reason for Harden to push up on Metta even if Metta hadn't have been celebrating. I guarantee you he won't do it again. Hopefully, the Lakers meet the over-hyped Thunder in the 2nd round so I'll get to listen to Mike Breen, with tears in his eyes, tell us all how OKC remembers what happened in this game. What happened in this game was you had a punk run up on a guy you'd have to be crazy to mess with. And he got clocked. And I'm tired of hearing people and media outlets saying he hit him "on the temple"..."in his ear"...."in the head"--watch the f'n video espn and Mike Breen--he hit him in the neck. Jeff Van Gundy was largely silent while Mike Breen was crying for the rest of the game about it. Harden's own teammate Kendrick Perkins, supported Metta. You run up on Perkins like that, he'd do the same thing. Last player to talk trash on the Laker's home court was Luis Scola of the Houston Rockets in Game 2 of the playoffs a couple years back. Derrick Fisher leveled him at mid-court coming off of a pick. Fisher was on OKC's bench yesterday. Metta will get suspended, my guess is anywhere from 2-5 games, but being as David Stern has been screwing us since the year started, I wouldn't be surprised to see another instance.

Harden wasn't pushing up on Metta. Watch the replay again. He was defending the inbound pass. What Metta did was absolutely inexcusable. And the elbow clearly connects with the back of his ear (something they can't even do in MMA), not the neck. A neck elbow doesn't drop someone unless it's right on the adam's apple or spine.

This kind of crap is not basketball and should not be part of the game.

Five games minimum. Could be more.

I have no problem with the length of the suspension. My only question is why they didn't give him 8 games so he would be guaranteed to miss the first round of the play-offs. And Steve: Harden was pushing up on Metta for one simple reason--he wasn't *defending* anything--Metta had just dunked--it was OKC's ball and OKC was inbounding it. Metta was trying to get up court while he was celebrating. Harden is a very good player who also talks trash constantly to the other team. He and Kobe are friends offcourt but oncourt they even got into it in the first game they played. OKC is trying to get where LA has been and LA isn't ready to step aside for them or anyone else. Metta sent a message and took one for the team.

I'm sure Kobe would have rather he didn't.

OK, I'm back.
Artest is a pile of human excrement and should be banned for life. Fool me once, shame on me, Fool me 14 times shame on him. LOSER. Nice fake name too. He truly exhibited World Peace alright!
Also-the Clippers last night-wow! Down 27 points in the 3rd quarter they beat a shameful Memphis team. They were still down 21 at the end of the 3rd quarter and won 99-98! I don't know why I kept watching but I did. It was something. A 26-1 run in the 4th was crazy.
As for the 76ers-I do not see them beating the Bulls in any way even without Rose. Not a chance. The team has no go-to player and medicority galore.

CLASSIC overreaction. One, if he had done anything even remotely resembling an action that deserved a lifetime ban, Stern would have dropped the hammer on him, not given him a 7 game suspension. Two, your "14 times" argument is meaningless, because you can't even tell me what 12 of the other 14 suspensions were for. Lemme guess, you like California's "3 Strikes And You're Out" law, too, right? On that note--welcome back IP.

After last night's loss to Miami, Stoudemire punched out a fire extinguisher, sliced his hand, and is likely out for the rest of the series. Nice move.

That fire extinguisher shouldn't have gotten all up in his face like that. It deserved what happened to it.

Why are fire extinguishers behind glass anyway? That's what I want to encounter--an obstacle to putting out a fast-spreading fire. At worst, the glass should be more forgiving than regular glass. Regardless, supposedly Amar'e was frustrated that Melo was being his typical shot-chucking self, which is why Amar'e had all of 9 shot attempts.

I like its simplicity. Good for now....they can always jazz it up later. You know you'll see tons of Brooklyn Nets hats and outfits all over NYC next season. It will be up there with Yankees gear for our fair cities top rappers and hangers on. :ohyes:

Did not expect the 76ers to dismember Chicago so badly. Wow. What a game by everyone. Turner (19 pts, 7 rebounds, 6 assists), Williams (20 pts, 6 assists), Holiday (26 points, 6 assists) and the rookie Allen (11 pts, 9 rebounds, 2 blocks) in particular were amazing.
Bulls looked shellshocked after a decent start.
76ers had 36 pts in the 3rd qtr.
I remain unconvinced, but it may be a series now. We shall see. Doug Collins can coach-that I knew.

Happy the Pacers tied the series up. They haven't made it to a semifinal since Reggie (right?)

The Knicks set an ignominious NBA record with their 13th consecutive playoff loss (dating back to 2001). They score all of 30 points in the second half and shoot 32% from the floor.

Miami can put them out of their misery on Sunday.

76ers manhandle the Bulls in the 4th qtr (28-14) and win an ugly one 79-74.
Hawes was awesome with 21 pts and 9 boards, Turner had 16 pts and 9 boards and Holliday had 17 pts, 6 boards and 6 assists. Lou Williams added 14 pts off the bench and Thad Young had 11 boards.
How they won this game with jack shit from Iguodala (5 pts and 0-5 on 3's) and Brand (a big fat ZERO) and shooting 1-14 on 3's is beyond me, but the other guys stepped it up.
This is a series now! I still see Chicago winning, but not as much as before.

76ers take it to the Bulls again!
Iguodala despite a painful achilles injury, had 14 pts, 12 rebounds and 3 steals.
Hawes was a beast with 22 pts, 8 rebounds and 3 blocks and is the first 76ers center since Moses Malone (!) to have 20 pts in back to back playoff games! He shot a scorching 9-11 from the field.
Holiday also hung tough despite strating 1-12 on FGs and had 20 pts, 8 rebounds and 6 assists.
One more win (and it will not be easy) and the 76ers will be just the 5th #8 seed ever to knock off a #1 seed. Yes, it's without Rose, but it still counts!
