I can't believe we are seeing Monkees VHS from the '80s and '90s being released on DVD!

I'd say grab 'em while you can. I remember watching that Monkees special back in 1997. I remember because it was the Monday night of a long holiday weekend (as I recall) and I watched it with a girlfriend I was with at that time.

Ok. I'd like to hear some opinions on this question. Will Rhino ever re-issue these with additional/different bonus tracks. I want to own this and Pool It! to complete my collection, but I would have to have to buy two not so great albums again in the future.

And while I'm at it, I guess I have the same question regarding thre recetn re-issue of Changes and Present (which basically put the old rhino editions back in print). Does anyone think Handmade will do something with these?

I think that Rhino has pretty much given up on The Monkees reissue campaign. The last deluxe edition was Pisces, Aquarius, Capricorn & Jones Ltd, and that was almost five years ago.

It's too bad. I've never gotten any of the post-1967 Monkee albums and figured that maybe I'd wait for the deluxes. But the fact that they're licensing stuff to Friday tells me that Rhino has no interest in Monkee reissues.

Of course, they are holding on to classic stuff, so anything's possible.

Indications are that Rhino Handmade is working on a set for at least Present.

Jay, I knew about the Rhino Handmades, but didn't bother with those because they are pricey and I'm not sure about those albums.

That's great news! However, I never expected them to skip Present and go for the runt of the original litter (IMHO).

It's good to know there is still hope for this world. If they release it, I will buy it.

I thouroughly enjoyed the Handmade editions of Birds and Instant Replay. Head was ok, but with the interview comprising the third disk, it felt like a little bit of a rip-off.

I meant Present rather than Changes. Sorry for the confusion.

I hear you on the third disc of Head -- fun to have the Davy interview, but it felt like filler.

I have a CD-ROM from the "Justus" era that has a couple of CD tracks and some sort of TV documentary about the Monkees if you stick it in a computer. Is this that same special? I only watched it once, maybe 4-5 years ago.

Even better! And once they've done Present they can't possibly stop before Changes and then who knows. The sky's the limit!

Of course, they announced this deluxe edition nearly a year ago, so I'll believe it when they have an actual release date.
