So how did "The Hunger Games" inspire "Logan's Run" again?

Or was it "The Running Man" that inspired "Logan's Run"? That way it would explain that Logan was the guy who was running.

Stephen King) novel weren't the contestants people who were so desperate in their real lives that they actually VOLUNTEERED for this game show? In Logan's Run, people who just wanted to live past 30 were running away---I don't think there was any games involved.

I wouldn't mind going with Jay and his family to see this movie if only to see him point at the marquee to show what film they are seeing. (It's playing at AMC Cornfield Multiplex, right?)

Based solely on the trailer, I wouldn't think "this is for teenage girls" like I would for Twilight or think "this is for pre-teen kids" like I would for Harry Potter. It looked like sci-fi to me. I've only begun to hear the girly stuff recently when hearing about the novels. My wife and I will go today with a couple we know.

If this was presented to you straight up you would give the presenter a wedgie and take his lunch money. I support things like this. I'm a fan of how genre can crossover to all sorts of audiences. It makes me want to buy the world a coke and keep it company.

The whole "teenage" thing turns me off and makes me want to wait for the Blu-ray. But this will be a phenomena movie so I may get forced to see it with the wife (since she read the book).

Based on the ads for the movie, it all looks a bit Logan's Run/Brave New World inspired. That's just the impression I get from the look of it. Except all those dudes who have facial hair like Prince did in the early 90's - they kind of just look like Prince.
Not that I was really paying attention to the ads for the movie - I was looking at a hardware store catalogue, checking out some power tools and stuff, when I caught twenty seconds of it on cable.

When I want to go to a manly store which actually has stuff I need for my job, it's the army surplus store. As long as I keep my mouth shut about being a pinko Democrat, I feel pretty safe there. P.S. Correction---I do go to the Home Depot for flashlights or batteries, but most everything else---boots, raincoats, binoculars...I get at the other place.

Yeah, the army surplus is pretty damned manly. It's the only place more manly than the hardware store.

Strip club might beat it, depending on how grimy and unsafe it is.

Sports bars stll attract a lot non-employee wimmin folk, though. We want places that wimmins wouldn't show up to unless they were paid to run around half-to-totally naked.
