Except he's right. The people who want Watchmen movies, prequels, Halloween costumes and V for Vendetta movies and whatever else are getting them. It seems weird to me that people are not only getting what they want, but disliking Alan Moore for not approving of what they want. It started with the terrible V for Vendetta movie. People were calling him whiny for not approving of a crappy movie because it hampered their enjoyment for some reason.

Sort of trivializing a lot of opinions here -- read what he said. In my view, he denigrates a lot of fellow creators and has quite a bit of snark for everyone.

I can understand him not wanting there to be any Watchmen stuff. But we don't always get what we want, and people matter more than his wizard-beard. He doesn't seem to treasure the relationships with people like Dave Gibbons that his talent has brought him.

I've read the entire interview. There is a lot I agree with and a lot I don't. I think it is a shame he lets things get in the way of his friendships with people like Dave Gibbons. (Sounds like David Lloyd is another matter) I don't agree that purchasing these sequels should earn people his contempt. I strongly agree that people who think that LEOG, Lost Girls, etc. are anything like these Watchmen prequels are showing a massive blindspot to the history of literature and the points of those books. Alan Moore is a brilliant writer, but he's a guy. I can agree and disagree with him like I can disagree with my parents, friends, etc.

But that doesn't mean that people have gone out of their way since V for Vendetta to complain that Alan Moore is complaining, despite the fact that he hasn't actually done anything to stop people from getting what they want. If they want a Wachowski V movie, it is there. If they want a Watchmen movie, it is there. Alan Moore isn't stopping it. He isn't even collecting money from it. So what does it hurt?

Go back and look at the comments around the web starting with Vendetta and you'll see it. People upset with Alan Moore for not endorsing what they want to see. Why? Guilt? As he's said, he's powerless to stop it.

Also, have you noticed Jim's jib? It's beautifully cut.
